The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
The role of Senior Buyer- Switchgear is a high profile specialist purchasing role within Production Purchasing which requires stakeholder engagement at many levels within and within the external supply base. The buyer will be responsible for a variety of commodities which impact many 1st tier integrated parts across several key functions of the business. Interfacing with Product Development, Supplier Technical Assistance and Manufacturing where a varied skill set is required due to the speciality & diversity of the commodities being purchased. The role requires a high level of interaction internally, as well as a continual flow of high level communication with the supply base.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Develop long term sourcing strategy for switchgear commodities ensuring optimal piece cost benefit and cost control to the client.
Develop Global strategy for commodities to be used within the Global Business Expansion teams to develop an optimal strategy for international manufacturing operations.
Ensure that all new model programmes costs targets are achieved and capacity requirements are protected Management of both Core production and Individualisation requirements.
Develop/refresh the strategic commodity dossier on all commodities reflecting current situation and future state, support the Commodity Business Planning.
Develop the commodity cost models for current and future programmes with other team members.
Managing supplier relationships and supplier performance.
Managing changing customer requirements within agreed supplier long term strategies and capacities.
Deliver cost savings on current business and cost avoidance on future programmes.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Excellent stakeholder management and relationship management skills and experience.
An excellent negotiator with a proven track record of successful commercial negotiations.
Able to manage and execute complex negotiations.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to converse at all levels of the organisation and with external suppliers/customers.
Ability to be highly organised and continually focus on attention to detail.
An understanding of cost drivers throughout a manufacturing environment.
An ability to react to changing market dynamics in the buyer / supplier relationships.
An awareness of the total business case and end customer value relationship.
Experience of dealing with global companies with high value revenue is desired.
