The Company:
SADARA is a Multinational Chemical company which is constructing and operating a world-scale integrated chemicals complex in Saudi Arabia. Once completed, the complex will represent the largest petrochemical facility ever built in a single phase. This will establish a world-scale manufacturing footprint that delivers a full range of value-added, performance products destined for the emerging markets of Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Africa.

The Role:
Design, implement and update chemo-metric models and monitor the performance of existing models, including model updates. Provide expertise on analytical, statistical and Near Infra-Red (NIR) tools in the design of chemo-metric models.

1. Develop, test and validate NIR models based on routine sample data and data provided by NIR instruments. Identify product or streams to be monitored by NIR.
2. Apply existing and new methodological applications for the NIR spectrometers.
3. Collaborate with appropriate technical resources to improve analytical systems and implement the most effective plant quality control and process reliability in line with the established business strategies.
4. Determine the scientific feasibility of the utilization of NIR spectrometry with regard to specific client requests, as well as provide technical support for existing customers of NIR spectrometry.
5. Suggest and implement improvements for Laboratory services provided for supported envelopes in line with business strategies and goals.
6. Conduct periodic visits to operational envelopes and participate in team effort with Operations/Engineering group to identify areas where specialized analysis is needed.
7. Anticipate and address laboratory or product quality problems, and conduct root-cause analysis and remediation.
8. Monitor chemo-metric system performance through the utilization of statistical tools, or Six Sigma Methodology, interpret results, and take appropriate corrective action as needed.
9. Procure required spare parts, chemicals, reference materials and other consumables

10. Follow the Sadara approved procedures and practices related to operations, maintenance and calibration of Chemo-metrics equipment. Adhere and comply with ISO 9001 standard requirements.
11. Actively participate in seminars, conduct presentations and write technical documents to highlight new and innovative chemo-metrics application. Network with other technical personnel to keep abreast with relevant areas of chemo-metric technologies and leverage technical solutions.
12. Perform any job-related activities as requested by the immediate supervisor/manager.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Four year college degree or higher (MS or Ph.D.) in chemistry or related disciplines as well as minimum of 5 years of experiences in a related occupation involving infrared/near infrared spectroscopy, PLS modeling / Chemo-metrics in support of petrochemical industry. Selected candidate will utilize his area of expertise to design and update chemo-metric models utilized to predict analytical parameters. Experience with new analytical technology development in this area is preferred. The candidate shall have mentoring and leadership skills as well as good command of English language, and good writing and communication skills.
