The Company:
Our client, a major Engineering company, requires expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Alberta.
This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
Responsibilities & Duties:

• Assist the area lead engineer to execute engineering within the scope assigned
o site preparation including rough grading of the plant site and pipeline corridors
o access roads, haul roads and service roads along the pipeline corridors
o drainage including culverts / storm water management of the plant site and along the pipeline corridors
o ponds - storm water drainage pond, emergency dump ponds ....
o erosion control and protection
o tank pad and containment area
o pipeline corridors
o underground pipelines and utilities
• Prepare engineering sketches for Designer to complete the drawings
• Review project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation against project standards and specifications
• Coordinate and work with project team members
• Liaise with other disciplines when required
• May need to communicate with the Client occasionally when designated by the area lead engineer.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

• B.Sc. in Civil Engineering
• 5+ years of practical experience as a senior engineer
• Registered member of APEGGA (or as engineering specialist - will be eligible to apply for the membership of APEGGA within one year)
• Experience in earthwork, site grading, roads, drainage, ponds, and pipeline corridors
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks
• Effective communication skills
• ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Knowledge in underground (water, sewer, oily water drain) would be an asset
• Knowledge in CAD and 3D modeling would be an asset
• Experience working on mining and/or heavy industrial projects would be considered an asset
• Experience with geotechnical would be considered an asset
