The Company:
Our client, a major Oil & Gas owner/operator, is seeking expertise for their projects in Newfoundland & Labrador.

This opportunity is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only. First consideration will be given to residents of Newfoundland & Labrador.

The Role:
The Senior Completions Engineer (SCE) will be responsible for design and safe execution of light well intervention well activities, in a manner consistent with the client's standards. The SCE is also responsible for writing technically rigorous, regulatory compliant and efficient well intervention programs in accordance with the clients' Code of Business Conduct, OEMS Standards, established procedures and Global standards and policies. The SCE will lead large groups of diverse individuals through complex operational and design processes. The SCE will also be responsible for managing change to the operations programs using approved EC processes, while offshore as a Supervisor, and onshore as an Engineer.

• Responsible for planning the safety performance at the wellsite in accordance with Company EHS goals, and according to Company OEMS standards.
• Prepares and writes Basis of Design, and intervention program, before assisting by monitoring the execution.
• Includes life cycle considerations in the Basis of Design such as operation, intervention and abandonment.
• Responsible for selecting suitable equipment and developing procedures together with the equipment manufacturers for assembly and operation.
• On-site supervision of daily intervention activities.
• Responsible for communication with key service personnel.
• Responsible for monitoring timely reporting of operational and cost data
• Communicates with Drilling or Production personnel as required.
• Responsible for supporting Near Miss / Incident appropriate investigation or follow up.
• Champions improvement initiatives and shares with other business units.
• Responsible for monitoring the safe and efficient management of change.
• Responsible for capturing and implementing lessons learned from one program to another.


• Position is responsible for planning and then supervising the execution of intervention operations. The position is an important member of the team involved in operations which could have serious, financial, environmental, or reputation impact on the Company.
• Position will have the responsibility to recommend equipment which may cost >$500,000 on a significant project.
• Plans regulatory compliance.

• Authority and accountability to advise operational leader to stop work and/or to test for and ensure readiness (full understanding, competency, safety, regulatory compliance, policy compliance, environmental protection)
• Empowered to take immediate action to protect people, environment, asset, or reputation.
• Advises immediate superior of situations as they occur, proactively offering way forward.

Position mobilizes offshore expected approximately June 2013.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• At least 10 years field experience
• Experience in planning and supervision while running completions and interventions.
• Detailed knowledge of all aspects of completion and intervention operations applicable to the BU. This could involve HPHT, H2S, harsh environment, subsea, or other local considerations.
• Commercial evaluation expertise for selecting equipment.
• Awareness of issues involved in planning, cost management, and logistics.
• Knowledge of appropriate legislation.
