The Role:
The following are a list of the key functional competencies of the role

•Has advanced technical understanding to lead scheduling activities through Construction, Systems Turnover and Commissioning phases. Uses technical understanding to communicate with and influence Project Control Manager, Resident Construction Manager and clients. Has detailed knowledge and understanding of E&P phases. Is able to analyse the availability of engineering deliverables and materials to develop a detailed construction plan and recommend deviations to the agreed plan, where appropriate, based on this analysis.
•Understands the effect of change on project costs, Understands the risks related to the management of construction contracts from enquiry to close-out.
•Interprets various schedule information relating to the construction progress of the project and communicates findings to Senior Project Management. Works confidently with data to interpret trends, issues and risks and will ensure that action to address business needs occurs as a result of findings.
•Ensures that the Planning discipline provides timely, concise and accurate reporting to Project and Construction Management, Clients and Corporate Management. Prepares and maintains project progress reports and forecasts for the construction phase of the project.
•Ensures the planning function is executed in accordance with current procedures and work practices. Is a competent user of all planning systems, optimising their use within projects to solve technical problems and promote effective management of information.
•Regularly challenges the standard way of doing things and seeks better ways to perform tasks. Is able to articulate these ideas and implement them where approved. Responds positively to feedback from others. Seeks to improve and expand their technical knowledge and seek accreditation where appropriate. Provides feedback into performance management systems.Reviews training needs of subordinates and prepares training plans. Carries out training as required.

To provide construction site planning and scheduling services to the project in accordance with Contract Execution Procedures

•Review and understand all relevant documentation pertaining to the project including scope of services, project execution plan, proposal/project schedule (including manpower projection plan), conditions of head contract.
•Work within the standard planning/scheduling procedures and work practices. Ensure that these fulfil client requirements and develop additional project specific procedures where necessary.
•Prepare detailed and summary construction plans to accomplish all work required by the procedures and to ensure that sufficient planning resources are provided.
•Provide planning input to construction subcontracts at enquiry and at award. Continue to work closely with subcontract manager/administrator to provide effective management of subcontractors.
•Liaise with Client Project Control personnel as necessary.

Timely preparation and issue of:-
•Overall Project Schedule Level 1
•Project Schedule Level 2
•Construction Network Level 3
•Schedule Basis Memorandum (SBM)
•Detailed lists/schedules/databases
•Progress 'S' Curves and tabulations
•Installed quantity curves and tabulations
•Subcontractor Manpower histograms
•Short-term look ahead schedules
•Weekly and Monthly progress reports including narrative
•Ensure that all involved parties, including construction subcontractors, participate in preparation of items described above and that they agree to their respective elements and approve documents where necessary.
•Produce site physical progress reports from CMS (or other approved method of progress measurement) and final job statistics.
•Prepare and issue project action reports to Resident Construction Manager/Project Control Manager.
•Maintain accurate schedule and control curves in an updated condition.
•Analyse schedule trends, including rates of installation of physical quantities and productivity, and produce regular forecasts of schedule performance and issues for project review.
•Maintain awareness and understanding of relevant systems operated by subcontractors.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Experience in use of P6 and Excel.
Experience of multi-discipline projects during the design, engineering and construction phases.
Knowledge of earned value progress methods.
Engineering Degree or QCF Level 5/NVQ Level 4 in Project Control
