The Role:
Senior Contracts Engineer

Reporting to: Package Manager (Day to Day activities re: Package contract)
Contract Engineer Lead (re: Overall project coordination)

Role: Provide the necessary procurement and contract services within an allocated Package and smaller call-off studies / minor services as allocated by the Contracts Engineer Lead. Provide the necessary post-award contract services within the subsea power cable package, consisting of:

1. Export Cable installation (4 No. 54 km)
2. Array Cable installation (187 No.)

Experience of marine installation work desirable.

Responsibilities:

• Developing pricing schedules, payment terms, commercial conditions and form of agreement necessary for ITTs, and taking the lead in checking and co-ordinating the assembly of the draft material
• Participating in risk, technical and commercial reviews of the enquiries as required
• Researching and drawing up potential lists of bidders
• Issuing ITT packages and acting as the conduit for queries and responses to questions
• Maintaining separation between technical and commercial elements of tenders within the overall tender assessment process
• Working with the project’s appointed contractual legal advisors as appropriate
• Preparing PPCP papers to obtain authorisation for bid issue and contract commitment
• Participating in contractor/supplier negotiations as required, taking the minutes of meeting if requested
• Drawing up and issuing contract documents. Arranging signatures and issue of copies
• Carrying out post-award contract management, issuing and evaluating variations and amendments as necessary
• Liaising with the Finance Officer to ensure that pricing structures are correctly modelled and actual/forecast information is accurate and up to date
• Verifying and approving contractor invoices for work done
• Assisting in the resolution and defence of contractor claims
• Operating in accordance with the project document management system, ensuring that sensitive commercial information is treated with the appropriate confidentiality
• Maintain a standardised project approach to the management of contracts
• Negotiation and settlement of contractor’s variation requests
• Maintaining cost/variation records and estimated cost to completion spreadsheets for each contract

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Degree qualified in a relevant discipline
• Minimum 20 years experience
• Oil & gas experience - operator or contractor

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Renewable energy industry experience
• Cables procurement experience
