The Role:
The Contracts Group hierarchy, depending on experience and knowledge, moves through from Contracts Analyst (CA) to Contracts Engineer (CE) to Senior Contracts Engineer (SCE) to Manager Contracts & Procurement (MCP). The SCE position is the fourth step in this progression. Due to increased experience and knowledge the SCE will be responsible for more complex issues/tasks than the CE. The SCE may be asked to take responsibility for the following:-

Building and nurturing relations with the various User Groups throughout the business.

Management of contractual relationships with Suppliers throughout the entire contract lifecycle including tendering, negotiating, evaluating, interpreting and implementing contractual documents to ensure risk and exposure is managed and value, quality, EHS, cost and delivery requirements are met.

Compliance with all relevant internal procedures and external legislative requirements.

Responsible for negotiation and agreement of all commercial/contractual aspects of contracts, as determined by MCP, with the exception of Indemnity and Insurance Clauses, which require to be referred to Legal for approval.

Any agreed contractual position requires to be approved through MCP, as appropriate and through the Delegation of Authority Matrix.

SCE’s shall be able to work independently and require limited supervision.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Law or Business (or other relevant degree) with an expert level understanding of contract and procurement tools and techniques and regulatory requirements and relevant Oil and Gas industry experience preferably gained through working within an operator environment. In the case of a Senior Contract Engineer it would be normal for the candidate to have around ten years of Operator experience or equivalent.

The ideal candidate shall have an expert level understanding of sourcing goods and services in the North Sea and have very effective commercial skills and very strong written and verbal communication and people skills.
