The Company:
Our client, a major internation oil & gas owner/operator, seeks expertise for their oil sand mega-project.

The Role:
An owners representative as Senior Contracts Specialist will lead contract formations, oversee contract administration processes and coordinate interfaces post-contract award through contract close-out. Specific duties include:
• Oversee project contract formation, administration & subcontracting activities, progress and issues including change management and claims resolution / negotiation
• Hands-on, high pressure, high workload and high value contracts that establish contractual strategies in co-operation with the project management and other functional managers such as the project engineers.
• Establish the lists of potential tenderers for the various packages:

- Prepare and launch the pre qualifications and invitations to tender, and clarifications with the tenderers;

- Evaluate the offers from both contractual and commercial standpoints in order to establish recommendations;

- Participate in the final negotiations and consolidate the contractual documents;

• Gain alignment on project contract administration needs, objectives and requirements
• Ensure Contractor's contract administration and subcontracting procedures and processes meet contract requirements
• Develop and execute administrative processes that advance the project’s procedures, goals and objectives

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Relevant post secondary education.
Minimum 12 years of experience in a similar role on major/mega engineering & construction projects with focus on pre and post-award administration through close-out phases
• Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills
• Must be a self-starter and able to work in a virtual organization
• Ability to strongly defend the company's positions during negotiations
• Alberta Oil Sands and/or mining project experiences required.
