The Company:
Our Client, an Iron Ore Joint Venture, is a partnership between global business leaders; working with a major Iron Ore Operator on its multi-billion dollar growth plans in Western Australia.

The Role:
Our Client's Mines team are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Controller for an immediate start to work on our Jinaryi site. Great choice of rosters available. This role provides leadership by putting in place effective cost controls on the project, to record and analyse costs and trends and to provide appropriate advice to key project personnel.

In this position you will provide competent technical support in relation to design and engineering services for civil and structural engineering projects including earthworks, roads, dams, drainage, water supply and buildings.

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

§ Review home office engineering budgets and staff plans by working with the project teams
§ Analyse subconsultant budgets by working with the project teams
§ Track and review. actual weekly labour costs, and analyse data to ensure charges are within budget, and charges are correctly coded. Make adjustments if necessary.
§ Work with project team to ensure they understand charging procedures
§ Develop and update labour budget graphs to monitor cost status
§ Take part in the Change Management process to develop and price out deviations and bring to closure.
§ Update cost reports with approved Change Management changes
§ Support cost studies on as as-required basis
§ Update and maintain FD Cost database for all JV costs
§ Set-up, update and maintain CMS cost database
§ Take part in forecasting of all project costs
§ Analyse all information prepared and take action if required.
§ Review and assist in preparation monthly PSR report
§ Assist with the compilation of the monthly report
§ Prepare all information required on a timely, accurate basis
§ Be able to explain all data presented
§ Be involved in the project, to understand the scope, current work status, future plans, etc
Be proactive in identifying better ways of streamlining the work process
§ Help subordinates in learning systems and work processes based on familiarity with systems

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Ability to cost code contracts and material requisitions

Ability to enter and organise data into a cost system

Ability to prepare reports tracking cost changes, trends and variations

Knowledge of computerised proprietary cost control systems

Ability to read and review data sheets and engineering drawings

Ability to prepare management reports and provide analysis on base-line excursions

Ability to recognise & assess budget and cost variations

Thorough knowledge of components of project organisation

Ability to organise projects: break down structures and Code of Accounts

Ability to design and maintain reporting systems to achieve cost control

Sound knowledge of cost forecasting

Ability to design and organise cost control structures (develop Code of Accounts)

Ability to assess scope of work for cost control purposes

Ability to impart skills and train subordinates

Previous experience on EPCM Projects
