The Company:
An international energy service company.

The Role:
Accountable for Cost Control, Reporting and support to Project Engineers in the financial management of their projects.
Provide a cost engineering service for a range of project & modifications (£ multi-million and multiple WBS's etc).
You will be expected to be proactive with the project engineers and engineering team in maintaining a sound cost control environment including the management of change.

Main Duties:
Understand corporate and contract cost and change control procedures and work in accordance with these.
•Work proactively with relevant project and discipline engineers to ensure that commitments and costs are controlled.
•Set up/projects within the cost system including project control budgets following client estimate / change approval.
•Produce regular cost reports highlighting forecast overruns and work with project engineers on corrective actions.
•Regularly meet with the client representatives and build a good working rapport.
•Work closely with Finance, Supply Chain, Planning and Estimating and other Functions.

Manage Project Cost Functions
◦You are expected to build relationships with the Project Teams, developing your knowledge of their requirements to provide the cost support and data the teams require. You are also expected to work with other members of the Projects and Asset Cost/Planning teams to ensure that Cost Engineering work is wholly integrated.

◦Required to provide expert advice where requested to validate expenditure including onshore and offshore manhours, actual costs (including vendors and materials) and onshore sub-contracts. Also responsible for providing monthly VOWD, Maintaining current commitment reporting, reviewing expenditure against estimates and assessing the impact of cost over/under-runs by preparing trend analyses and options.

Manage and Operate Systems
◦The key systems you will use are Mpower 4, Web Intelligence (Reporting tool), as well as interfaces into Maximo, Merlin (Estimating System) and Microsoft applications Outlook, Word, Excel and Power point etc.
Also expected to develop a level of knowledge of the systems you use that will allow support to Project management, Finance Analysts, and colleagues in the Project Team(s) and to develop solutions and improvements to the systems and how they are used.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
HND or Degree level
◦Cost Engineering for offshore brownfield modifications covering engineering, procurement, construction & WBS structures. Close working experience with planning and estimating. Reasonable knowledge of offshore environment and cost issues around brownfield work
◦Knowledge of Cost policies and practices; ability to work on different sizes and complexities of job; reasonable appreciation of the offshore business; appreciation of KPI arrangements and commercial drivers.
◦Good appreciation of Project Management methodologies.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
◦Be an enthusiastic, self starting member of a Cost team
◦Good verbal and written communications skills.
◦Team player willing to take responsibility and work with other disciplines in order to achieve the optimum outcome.
◦Ability to challenge and sense check for overall realism. Strong commercial focus. Ability to work to tight deadlines when required.
◦Ability to make decisions and meet deadlines.
