The Company:
The growth of the CSG and CSG-to-LNG industry in Queensland specifically has increased the requirements for engineers and technical professionals in a range of disciplines who posses various skillsets. Fircroft are supporting a number of owner/operators as they plan and execute their respective multi-billion dollar projects.

The Role:
A Senior level Cost Engineer is required for 12 month contract to be based in Brisbane.

Setting-up, managing and developing (i.e. continuously improving) the project’s cost control systems, you will establish agree and implement project specific cost control processes and procedures and seek to change working practices where processes and procedures are not being followed. Developing the WBS and CBS as the basis for Cost budgeting and forecasting, you will prepare baseline budgets from the approved project cost estimate, prepare and maintain (as changes and/or trends develop) the Basis of Estimate for the works, and produce asset monthly cost report in accordance with approved Company and project procedures. Leading the undertaking of cost risk analyses and support schedule risk analyses, you will develop Pricing Schedules for Contracts, prepare funding requests and ensure effective interface /liaison with the accounting system.

The Senior Cost Engineer must be willing to drive improvements in Earned Value Management and Risk Management to an appropriate level to give high visibility to senior management of the cost reporting process. Where shortcomings in existing processes supporting the EVM/RM processes are identified, you will work proactively to provide improvements, ideally as long term procedures, but where necessary as short term workarounds.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
With your experience of setting up and maintaining cost control systems on large value projects, you will have a demonstrated background in the successful implementation of Earned Value Management cost system, and ideally integrated EVM/Risk Management processes. Successful cost control of major oil and gas projects in challenging environments, including management of contractor performance against these costs, is required along with your knowledge of all delivery phases of major oil and gas projects e.g. Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, Start-up etc. and experience of the project sanction process.

A good communicator who is able to challenge and influence others in a constructive manner to achieve positive outcomes, you will provide a reliable/efficient service to stakeholders, provide clear analysis (and not just data) showing clearly the effect on the bottom outcome (Estimate at Completion), with necessary detail as back up.
