The Company:
Our client is a leading UK based operator with oil and gas project in over a dozen locations. Due to continued growth and new ventures we are now looking to appoint a Senior Cost Engineer for a permanent role to be based in London.

The Role:
The successful candidate will be tasked with the following key activity and responsibilities:

• Establish effective project cost management systems in support of engineering services to the Kenya and Ethiopia business units
• Produce accurate cost reports to include Forecast cost, Value of Work Done and Commitments against approved Budget
• Ensure that payments are made in line with contractual agreements and that invoices are correctly allocated to WBS codes and Account codes
• Help establish effective budgeting process
• Perform all aspects of the cost management processes from project inception through to project close out.
• Advise on contracting strategy from a commercial perspective.
• Develop Work Breakdown Structures to meet project/company reporting requirements as required
• Preparation of Annual Budgets, Project Budgets and Well/Project AFEs.
• Provide expenditure phasing and projections consistent with project schedule.
• Maintain accurate cost forecasts based on latest information.
• Provide Value of Work Done based on contractor reports, operations report, materials issued and estimates.
• Processing of invoices including reviewing invoices for completeness, verification against contract terms & conditions, correct coding of invoices, resolution of invoice disputes.
• Monitor contract expenditure and forecast contract value against approved contract values.
• Handling of Variation Orders, Queries and Deviations
• Interface with senior management and clearly communicate all project issues
• Provide input to contract close out report.
• Produce regular Cost Reports (Monthly/Weekly/Daily) to include forecast, commitment & value of work done.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
We are therefore keen to receive applications and speak to candidates with the following experience and skills:

• Degree educated
• Membership of a professional body such as AACE / ACostE - desirable.
• 8-10 years experience working with cost in the oil and gas industry with additional familiarity with estimating and planning function
• Experience of industry standard cost control systems such as Kildrummy, PRISM, Cobra and SAP Finance System
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Previous Africa E&P projects experience a big advantage
