The Company:
Our client is a leading global exploration and production oil and gas company with a focus with a focus on innovation, safety and sustainability.

The Role:
A new position has arisen for a Senior Cost & Planning Engineer to join their Perth based Project Controls Team. The project is a leading offshore project that is going through a maintenance and shutdown period and requires further resource.

The Senior Cost & Planning Engineer will lead cost control activities for the project and drive alignment between budget and execution plans.

Responsibilities include:
• Departmental / project budget & cost control
• Organisation of the long-term plan
• Requisitioning, and contract management for the Engineering department

• Support contract management of service providers to ensure competent and timely support of the Project requirements.
• Provide guidance on suitable project work breakdown structures.
• Ensure project services business systems are managed to best practices that support the cost control of expenditure associated with the Project.
• Influence Capex/Opex decisions with early and complete draft recommendation and assure that the proper information if provided in a timely manner.

Management Systems
• Produce and analyse cost reports covering budget, actual, commitments and forecast at a department, portfolio and project level.
• Analyse project cost performance and progress.
• Manage invoice checking and SOX compliance for the Project. Provide financial controls services required by Finance.
• Manage the processing of requisitions for materials and services from the Project team.
• Prepare preliminary OPEX and CAPEX determination.

Assurance & Continuous Improvement
• Utilise Company Networks of Excellence for knowledge sharing and continuous improvement of projects and engineering systems.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with the Finance department to assure budget schedule alignment and accurate reporting of monthly updates.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with the Supply Chain department to assure on-time delivery of goods and services requisitioned as well as contract negotiations for service providers.
• Identify and optimize opportunities and activities to increase effectiveness of resources.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Minimum qualification is Trade/Diploma level qualification.
• Proven experience in project business support systems of scheduling, cost control and contract management
• Leadership and management skills
• Strong conceptual and analytical skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
• Proficient in Primavera 6
• Proficient in SAP PM and PS modules
• Negotiation skills

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Understanding of phased/gated project delivery
