The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:
Scope
Evaluate product and investment costs for current and future product development plans. Proactively work towards achievement of cost target objectives with Purchase and Engineering functions.
Develop product cost targets at system, feature and part level that support financial objectives.
Support Purchase in the development of tooling cost targets.
In conjunction with Engineering and Purchase, establish optimum costs that support project targets.
Prepare cost status through Modual SET process including risks and opportunities, reporting on a monthly basis.
Support design process in providing cost evaluation of alternative proposals, including PLO activities.
Support the supplier nomination process and final price negotiations with Purchase function.
Represent the Financial Controller - Purchase/unit Cost in a window role capacity. (Deputize for the Manager).
Coordinate and assure the achievement of the agreed priorities with the Financial Controller.

Key Responsibilities
Target Setting

Develop bottom-up target costs that will support project targets and support the Financial Controller-Purchase/Unit Cost in top-down target development.
Establish component part costs for New Products and Current Model Projects, including Permits, Engineering Changes and PKI activities.
Work within the Modular SET's to develop target and latest indicated costs.
Agree with Purchase the appropriate tooling for volume of particular projects and associated part cost.
Support the Approval of tooling requisitions within their modular responsibility.

Evaluation and Control

Support the design process in achieving cost targets, recommending cost effective solutions through the design/change review processes. Achieve formal agreed cost status at B release for all major systems/parts.
Evaluate PDB change requests and AEKO's, including Supplier Nominations (LSC) and propose cost and nomination based on Modular SET review process. Authority up to 1 euro unit cost and 10000 Euros investment.
Evaluate supplier quotations (QAF's) and support the negotiation process with Purchase
Support Modular SET/STE's in studies of use of prototype tooling and costing of pre-series vehicles.
Formally agree the handover of a FAKIS project BOM to a SAP BOM and report reasons for differences.
Modular responsibility across multiple projects.

Cost Data Management

Maintain component target and latest indicated costs for new products and Current Models in FAKIS
Identify and ensure correction of BOM errors within the Modular SET working.
Apply cost stoppers to parts in FAKIS not required in model calculation.

Reporting

Prepare Target v Status reports identifying reasons for deviations from target and previous status. Together with the material cost analyst.
Working with Modular SET's, identify risks and opportunities for presenting to management.
Prepare information and brief manager of financial position for reporting at Material Cost Review, LSC, AEKO etc.
Process Improvements
Proactively support improvements in personal, team and company processes particularly raising awareness of Target Costing.
Support through participation, process development initiatives, including SAP, FAKIS, Intranet.
Personal Development
Through the PDR process actively develop skill,s knowledge that support key responsibilities and objectives.

Qualifications
Technical and commercial training through apprenticeship (or equivalent).
Educated to HND level in engineering/manufacturing techniques.

Previous Experience
Significant experience in cost estimation techniques, preferably within the automotive industry.
Knowledge and application of VE and VA techniques.
Evaluation of supplier quotations and involvement in negotiations with suppliers.
Financial awareness in management accounting and financial reporting.
Strong experience in Cost Engineering.
