The Company:
Our client is one of the worlds largest providers of technical services across a wide range of sectors, including nuclear.

The Role:
Senior Civil/Structural Design Engineer to be based at our clients Westlakes office, near Whitehaven - in Cumbria

Responsible for design development of a number of CS&A tasks/project primarily connected to Sellafield site.
Should have ability to demonstrate good working knowledge of Sellafield site, experience with relevant design codes and good writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities include:
Liaison with client project team to understand requirements and deliverables for each work package Civil/Structural design.
Develop Civil/Structural scheme and documentation (calculations/drawings/reports) for all work packages.
Produce scopes of work and specification in accordance with Sellafield Ltd procedures and formats.
Provide brief weekly reports on progress and 2 weekly look aheads.
Oversee small CS&A design team with responsibility for all CS&A deliverables.
Provide the necessary link between client Responsible Engineer, Operations and Sub Contractor to ensure the delivery of work packages that complies with the client expectation.
Ensure all work complies with Company / Client Procedures, Company / Client and National design standards and legislation.
Engage in regular communication with other discipline engineers to ensure effective design co-ordination.
Attend key technical meetings including optioneering workshops, constructability reviews, CDM review, project risk reviews, design reviews (SDDR’s and MDDR’s) and HAZOP’s.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
HNC minimum, but expected to be working towards membership of recognised professional body
Essential Experience:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a regulated industry in a technical or engineering design delivery role.
>3 years Nuclear Industry experience.
Knowledge of Sellafield codes, standards and procedures.

Personal Competencies The candidates must be self-motivated and capable of arranging own work schedules to meet challenging client deadlines. They must be able to conduct themselves professionally and with integrity and have the ability to work within a small team.
The candidate must be self-reliant, adaptable and dynamic and be a good communicator (both written and oral)

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
BEng / BSc in related subjects, Chartered Engineer or working towards membership of recognised professional body
Preferred Experience:
Monitored Worker with Site experience.
Experienced in working with relevant British Standards
A comprehensive knowledge of other Sellafield codes, standards and procedures.
Security Clearance ‘SC’ Level (preferred)
