The Company:
Our client is one of the UK's leading Power & Gas companies - generating electricity, and retailing power and gas. They're currently looking for a Senior Geophysicist to join their Geophysics Team . This position reports to the Chief Geophysicist.

The company is now among the Top 20 upstream companies in the North Sea and, as well as operations in the UK and Norway, also has offices in Russia and Algeria.

The Role:
The position will report to the Manager Development & Production Geosciences and will be located in London.

The position of Development & Production Geophysicist carries accountability for ensuring the successful integration of geophysics-based interpretation of rock and fluid data into the preparation of field development plans and reservoir models for new projects & producing assets in the North Sea, and future projects beyond this area.
• Scope ranges from providing expert input to teams of geologists and reservoir engineers working on developing reservoir models to predict well performance and quantify key subsurface uncertainties…to volumetric assessments, support for operational activities and participating in screening of new business activities.
• Drive the uptake of the latest geophysical methods and techniques for seismic attribute analysis and inversion, porosity and net pay prediction, definition of fluid contacts and application of industry-leading seismic acquisition and processing techniques, including potential future use of OBC and 4D seismic data
• Evaluation and integration of near-field prospects into the asset reference plans
• Deliver quality contributions to relevant decision points.
• Apply specialist knowledge to discussions with partners to influence work programmes and key decisions.
• The work is conducted in a co-located multi-disciplinary team including colleagues in geophysics, well operations, petrophysics and reservoir engineering.

• Seismic interpretation, with a focus on attribute analysis, inversion and reservoir/fluid prediction as input to reservoir models forming basis for Field Development Plans (FDPs).
• Lead our Client's seismic acquisition and processing activities, and initiation of new projects with contractors
• Prepare documentation for and participate in volumetric assessments
• Evaluation of near-field prospects
• Licence Round work as required
• Represent our Clinet's E&P in Joint Ventures and consortia technical meetings, both operated and non-operated
• Peer reviewing within the whole organisation
• Contribute to our strategy to further grow the oil & gas upstream portfolio
• Support team training, staff development and mentoring

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Advanced quantitative seismic interpretation skills with experience of seismic inversion and prediction of rock/fluid properties.
• Familiarity with geology & tectonic history of the North Sea.
• Working knowledge of other disciplines (geology, geophysics, reservoir engineering)
• Ability to utilise all the available data and apply the appropriate analytical and numerical techniques.
• Ability to generate ideas & mature them through to decision points
• Ability to quantify risk and uncertainty and to understand the impact on the project.
• Ability to organise, manage time and prioritise is essential.
