The Company:
Established international E&P operator with operations in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The Role:
This role will provide high quality Development Geological expertise in the subsurface group, for the appraisal, development and production phases of the company's oil fields. These fields can be highly complex and the successful candidate will be expected to have an excellent understanding of subsurface, geosciences and engineering data.

This is a technical leadership role for a well rounded and accomplished Development Geologist with significant and broad technical skills. A key component of the role will be holistic data integration and reservoir characterisation leading to fit for purpose reservoir models. The role also requires close liaison with the development geophysicists, reservoir engineers and drillers in achieving that goal.

You will possess substantial level of technical competence and be able to work with a minimum of supervision to tight deadlines. You will work closely with the related sub surface disciplines and mentor junior Vietnamese staff. Good communication and presentation skills are necessary, and there will be a strong focus on developing working relationships with JV partners and Petrovietnam.

•Analysing available geological data: well logs, core data, sedimentological studies, regional data etc. to generate a geological model of the reservoir to be developed.
•Working with the geophysicist to incorporate the geophysical interpretation into the structural model for the reservoir.
•Creating a structural and facies model of the reservoirs.
•Using Petrel to generate a series of geomodels that represent likely scenarios for the reservoir and exporting them for reservoir simulation.
•Liaising with the Development Geophysicist and Reservoir Engineer to optimise the reservoir model, the subsurface development plan and selecting appraisal and development well locations.
• Working with RE, Operations Geologist and Drilling group on well designs, logging, casing and coring and testing programmes.
•Collaboration with the Exploration Group, to ensure smooth handover from discovery to appraisal
•Monitoring the progress of drilling the wells and advising on any changes to the programme that may be required as a result of unexpected geological events.
•Presenting to JV partners and Petrovietnam and establishing good working relationships with them.
•Mentoring junior staff.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•15 years Upstream experience within Geology, 10yrs + as a Development Geologist
•International experience well regarded
•Solid understanding of log analysis / petrophysics is an advantage.
•Proficiency with geomodelling software (e.g. Petrel) would be beneficial.
•Ability to appreciate and work effectively with other cultures
