The Company:
Our Client is a major oil and gas operator who has operations though out the world. This role will be working within the Exploration and Production arm of my clients business working on major projects in the North Sea.

The Role:
Reporting to the Drilling Engineering Team Leader the Senior / Drilling Engineer is accountable for engineering activity covering the planning, programme preparation and execution of drilling operations within the wells team. You will also have accountability for operational support on new and existing wells.

Some key responsibilities for this role are as follows:

• Ensure well designs comply with company Engineering Technical Practices and appropriate legislative requirements
• Development of quality well designs from Appraise team to end Define Phases, to include Statement of Requirements and well / field Basis of Design
• Development of well cost estimates and Drilling and Completions Uncertainty Statements with appropriate range of uncertainties for Financial Memorandum sanction at Select to Define gate
• Implementation and maintenance of appropriate risk management plan
• Implementation of knowledge management plan ensuring capturing of lessons learnt from the Wells Operations team
• Ensure regulatory submissions and consents are in place in a timely manner
• Delivery of drilling programme and AFE
• Liaising with well interventions, completions and subsea engineers to ensure delivery of integrated well plan
• Set performance target for well in agreement with Drilling Engineering Team Leader and Wells Team Leader
• Provide engineering support to Wells Team Leader during project execution
• Perform post analyses for benchmarking and learning, identification and implementation of appropriate new technologies
• Prepare end of well reports
• Specification and procurement of long lead equipment
• Assure adequate third party Quality Assurance and Quality Control
• Coaching, development and supervision of younger engineers
• Engagement of Wells Team Leader during development of Well Programme
• Support to Wells Team Leader and Drilling Engineer through Execute phase
• Working closely with resource teams, geologists, production and service company personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• A Bachelors degree in relevant engineering discipline.
• Proven success in a Drilling Engineer role, demonstrated competence in well design for drilling activities.
• Knowledge of conducting assurance and review of drilling planning work.
• Knowledge of pore pressure and fracture gradient prediction.
• Experience working with third party service providers.
• Ability to project manage large multi disciplinary scopes of work
• Ability to work to timelines with minimum supervision.
•Personal commitment and proactive approach to Health, Safety and the Environment.
•Demonstrated experience working with multi-disciplinary teams.
•Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Competence with Landmark well engineering software packages (DIMS/ Openwells, Wellplan, etc).
• Drilling experience for an operator in a Drilling Engineer role.
• IWCF Well Control certified or equivalent.
• Participation in continuous improvement processes.
• Aptitude to innovate and be open to new ideas.
• Proven track record as a strong team player.
