The Company:
Our client is a major operator within Oil and Gas

The Role:
The Senior Drilling Engineer reports to drilling engineering manager. The role incorporates planning, operational support and mentoring of local staff. This includes but is not limited to incorporating the requirements of the subsurface statements of requirements into full drilling programs. The individual will work closely with the key suppliers for rig and product services. The individual shall mentor local young engineers in the team. A strong working relationship with the subsurface and drilling operations team is essential.

Key roles and responsibility include:
1. Coordinate with subsurface team on SOR development and subsurface requirements.
2. Provide engineering support to the drilling operations and ensure the delivery of well objectives is compliant with relevant policies and regulations
3. Participate in drill the well on paper exercise, risk register development and management
4. Long lead material forecasting & ordering.
5. Delivery of complete drilling programmes including sidetrack, vertical, horizontal and HPHT.
6. Coordinate whipstock procedure development with whipstock provider
7. Coordinate bundled service’s product line program development with bundled service provider
8. Coordinate bit selection and optimization with the consignment bit providers and bundled service directional drillers.
9. Conduct FEED to execution of minor and major project management. Examples HPHT well design, casing design optimisation, Pad design etc.
10. Evaluate rig and service equipment capabilities to determine maximum step out for each well type.
11. Delivery of safe and environmentally sound drilling engineering solutions.
12. Delivery of end of well reports for the rigs including bit records, lesson learned NPT analysis and optimization recommendations.
13. Monitor and coach staff and contactors in an international safety and cultural expectations.
14. Assurance of the technical integrity of operations and compliances within country law, corporate policy, international standards and guidelines.
15. Coaching, training and development of young Iraqi Drilling engineering staff.
16. The identification and application of value enhancing, innovative and new technologies.
17. Provide ad hoc review of turnkey drilling operations as required..

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
1. Educated to at least first degree level in an engineering, preferably petroleum or mechanical.
2. Experience developing drilling procedures and programs for side track would be beneficial
3. Experience designing wells with MWD,LWD, PDM,RSS.
4. Experience in drilling Software like Landmark i.e Stresscheck, Compass, Wellplan etc.
5. Exposure to development fields.
6. Detailed knowledge of Drilling and completion design, engineering and planning is essential.
7. Experience with drilling operations.
8. Exposure to contract management beneficial
9. Experience working the in the remote areas / desert locations in a multicultural environment is preferred.
10. Team player and good communication skills.
11. Middle East experience would be beneficial.
12. Experience and training with a major oil company of minimum of 8 years.
13. Land drilling experience & desert experience would be beneficial.
14. Technical English language is a prerequisite with additional skills in Arabi
