The Company:
Our Client is a global Exploration & Production company focused on the increase of production and reserves, the geographic diversification of activity with increased presence in OECD countries, operational excellence and maximising the profitability of assets.

The Role:
Our Client requires a Senior Drilling Engineer to be based at their offices in Spain, working on various ongoing Onshore exploration campaigns.

The SDE is accountable for all the conceptual planning engineering required for delivery of the wells. Well engineering planning & subsurface interface, cost estimating, support rig and service strategy/tender process and support logistic set up. The position will report to the Project Drilling Manager or Regional Drilling Manager.

o Responsible for the Well planning & drilling engineering, casing design, fluids, cementing, directional, survey, bits and suspension
o Planning torque, drag, hydraulics, ECD, swab & surge calculations for drilling and running casing
o Technical input for Rig Strategy, Prequalification, Tender and Implementation including start-up programme
o Total well planning and design, cost estimation and risk analysis, operation support to field team
o Preparation of well engineering Decision Support Packages (DSP).
o Ensure all regulatory requirements are met with the timely submittal of all applications to appropriate government authorities.
o Detail Long Lead equipment and planning/ordering requirements
o Travel to the field locations to monitor and participate in drilling operations and provide support to the Drilling Supervisors
o Ensure Open Well daily drilling reports are reviewed, kept up to date and accurate.
o Work closely with resource teams, geologists, and production and service company personnel to ensure an efficient operation.
o Strong commitment to Safety and Environmental compliance. Development of the well based risk register, mitigations, actions and contingency planning.
o Investigate offset data, lessons learnt & drive continuous improvement into the well planning and engineering.
o Perform post-analyses for benchmarking and learning.
o Support all phases of the drilling operations.

Candidates must be eligible to live and work in Spain.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
o Minimum of (10) total years of broad experience in Drilling & Completion operations on Onshore (Planning and Operational Implementation)
o Valid well control certificate.
o Demonstrated experience working with multi-disciplinary teams. .
o Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively and efficiently.
o Self-motivated, positive attitude, and works with minimal direction. Strong problem solving skills.
