The Role:
Looking for a Senior Drilling Engineer for a major offshore HP/HT development project in the North Sea.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop the optimal engineering solutions for wells to allow cost effective, efficient and safe well operations, optimise well productivity and ensure the well is delivered fit for purpose
• Provide well engineering back-up during the operational phase to ensure work is performed in a safe efficient and cost effective manner
• Ensuring targets (financial and time) are met

MAIN ACTIVITIES:
• Perform drilling engineering for wells e.g. preparation, SOW, operation programs in a timely manner, in liaison with the other project members
• Prepare drilling programmes/end of well reports and co-ordinate other specialist inputs
• Undertake technical studies and apply technical skills and innovative thinking to obtaining positive outcomes: propose changes and/or innovations with properly identified risks and expected benefits
• Ensure optimisation of safe working practices are considered in the development of operational programmes
• Accurately prepare budget and duration required for the Project
• Supervise small task forces, comprising junior engineers and contractors to resolve engineering/technical issues and lead operational implementation of solutions
• Update and follow up of equipment preparation for non-routine operations and offshore supervision
• Update and follow-up of the rig cost control for service contracts involved in drilling and completion operations
• Liaise closely with Operations to support implementation of engineering work plans, providing live drilling engineering support to operations (casing design, directional, hydraulics, swab and surge, torque and drag, well control calculations etc..)
• Daily selection and follow up of directional drilling equipment (Bit, BHA, Rotary Steerable Systems)
• Prepare applications (DTI submission notifications) and returns to external agencies as required to satisfy the overall drilling programme in a timely manner
• Effective contract management of contracts (operational cost) with a view to optimising value and to take decisions with respect to the job holder’s technical speciality

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• The job holder will hold a BSc of MSC or equivalent in appropriate engineering discipline (Mechanical, Chemical, Offshore or Petroleum) with relevant experience in well engineering
• Organisational skills to prioritise and manage a heavy workload in a rapidly changing environment
• Good computer skills, especially in Drilling Engineering software (DSP-one, wellcat, ECDElf)
• Valid IWCF and offshore certification
