The Role:
Job Purpose:

To design the wells, to prepare drilling programs and to specify all equipment and materials required for these wells, ensuring all Drilling Engineering activities comply with IMA standards and local regulation requirements.


Key Accountabilities:
• Prepare HAZID risk assessment session for basics of drilling design (BODD) and drilling program incorporate all mitigation plans in detail Drilling program and organize procedural HZOPS sessions with all key contractors prior to execution
• Define BODD, prepare well designs, engineering and drilling program, specify equipment, materials & personnel requirement, prepare detailed drilling programs and budgets for the wells in accordance with IMA standards, based on the well objectives as specified by the subsurface team, maintaining technical integrity of all Drilling Engineering aspects and keeping high SSHE standards.
• Ensure adherence to SSHE Management System, Drilling Management System (DMS), the Contractor Management System (COMS) and the local regulatory requirements.
• Obtain approval of the well programs and permits to drill the wells from the regulatory authorities.
• Provide Drilling Engineering support to the Drilling Operations.
• Assist the Drilling Engineering Manager to resource the Drilling Engineering team as appropriate to cover all Drilling Engineering requirements and to define objectives for the Drilling Department.
• Participate in creating one Drilling Engineering team with good communication to other drilling sections, sub-surface – and other departments.
• Ensure equipment, materials and personnel as well as technical and commercial terms required for the drilling engineering and drilling operations are specified in detail and ordered in time, complying with the Procurement and Contracting process and the Contractor Management System (COMS)
• Provide technical support to the evaluation and selection of Drilling Engineering Contractors.
• Manage Drilling Engineering Contractors including supervision of work, quality control of work delivered, resolving technical issues.
• Provide input for the risk management processes and the emergency response plan.
• Participate in ‘end of well reviews’, capture lessons learned and contribute to drilling performance improvement plans using the Technical Limit approach.
• Provide input for the Drilling Management System (DMS) and improve same if required.
• Ensure all activities required under CMS are completed on time for both him/herself and team members – this includes acting as Technical Well Services Assessor for CMS Internal and Recruitment Screening process
• Assist in the development of Drilling Engineers and Graduate Drilling Engineers through mentoring and coaching, performance feedback and identifying development opportunities.

Job End Results:
• Delivery of quality well engineering designs and drilling programs or execution procedures complete with risk assessment and mitigation plan, detailed time and cost estimates and meeting the well objectives specified by the sub-surface team.
• All Drilling Engineering activities are conducted in accordance with IMA SSHE Management System, the Drilling Management System, Contractor Management System and the local regulatory requirements
• All regulatory approvals and permits obtained related to Drilling Engineering activities.
• All equipment and materials for the wells specified and ordered in time.
• Continuous improvement culture with proven results in Drilling Engineering activities and Drilling Operations and optimal selection of technology.
• Selection of Drilling Engineering Contractors in accordance with the Procurement and Contracting process.
• Continuous monitoring and auditing of contractors and vendors in accordance with the Contractor Management System to ensure delivery as per contract.
• All contractors deliver on time, safely, within budget and without deviation from any of IMA standards.
• A professionally assessed technically competent team.
• All CMS activities completed on time

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Professional Education & Experience:
• Qualifications – Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering or related fields.

• Certifications & training

- Industry training in drilling technology, SSHE, offshore operations and contracts management.
- Current IWCF certificate, supervisory sub-sea level, and HUET


• Professional Experience

- 10 years experience in petroleum production, reservoir and drilling engineering.
- Subsea & ERD drilling sand control completions experience is a plus
- To operate in a multi-cultural environment and be able to manage the different cultures within the team.
