The Company:
Our client has been established for over 20 years locally and is focused on delivering design solutions to the nuclear industry, specialising in the design of mechanical handling plant and equipment, the design and installation of plant control systems and the provision of support to plant safety reviews.

The Role:
The successful applicant will specialise in the design and production of bespoke remote handling equipment for the nuclear industry.

The role will involve production of scheme designs, detail designs and manufacturing drawings using 2D CAD (Autodesk AutoCAD LT) for high value, low volume systems. Appropriate use of innovative new and proven technologies is required to produce safe robust equipment designs. The role will also entail the production of technical documentation to accompany the commissioned equipment and demonstrate compliance with relevant legislation.

You will be required to work as part of small multi-disciplinary design teams on a number of projects simultaneously. For this reason, self motivation, conscientiousness and a flexible attitude are highly valued and the ability to lead a small team on occasion would be advantageous.

You will be responsible for the production of specific project deliverables to agreed costs and timescales.
The role will involve client interaction throughout the lifecycle of each project. This will involve technical meetings, design reviews, factory and potentially site commissioning activities.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Technical aptitude with a degree in a related discipline (or HND) or equivalent experience
• Ability to manage his / her own workload and self manage to deliver tasks
• Ability to make prioritisation decisions on non-critical or process driven work
• Ability to read, understand and work to procedures and standards
• Ability to work as part of a team and supervise or guide others in the delivery of similar tasks
• Is expected to need general supervision and ask for direction when required
• Is expected to be competent in the production of standard design deliverables
• Have an awareness of relevant design tools, techniques and methods
• Have an awareness of legislation and regulations applicable to their role and the projects they are working on.
