The Role:
We are currently recruiting for a Senior / Principal Electrical Design Engineer to work at one of our clients offices in either Manchester, Birmingham or York.
Main Purpose of the Job:
To undertake Rail E&P engineering activities within the business, in respect of both design and consultancy services at GRIP stages 3 to 5.
To act as the E&P CRE on single and multi disciplinary rail engineering design projects on a UK wide coverage basis.
To provide technical support and assistance.
Principal Accountabilities:
To provide technical assistance and guidance to the E&P engineering resource. Undertaking of tasks as assigned, in particular:
Supporting Rail E&P engineering (design and consultancy) specific tasks;
Contributing the Rail E&P engineering input to multi disciplinary railway engineering (design and consultancy) projects.
Contribute to developing company expertise in Rail E&P engineering to meet the needs of clients and strategic future workstreams.
Observation of company quality and project management disciplines and procedures, as relevant to tasks undertaken.
In all activities to contribute to the successful development of our client's business in the field of railway infrastructure engineering.
Responsibilities are anticipated as, but not limited to:
Assist and coordinate feasibility studies, together with outline and detailed design proposals.
Specification of site survey and load monitoring requirements.
Development of Conceptual and Detailed Designs.
Development of works and control and monitoring of progress against programmes including EV/EPPR reporting.
Ensuring that design, assessments and checking of designs are in accordance with the relevant client and industry Standards and Codes of Practice.
Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Demonstrable experience, in the design, checking and approval of GRIP3-5 signalling power supplies and points heating.
BEng/MEng or equivalent.
A sound understanding of the CDM and BS7671 Regulations, specifically the designers and clients requirements.
A sound understanding of Rail industry requirements regarding the Risk Assessment process.
Sentinel / PTS qualified preferred.
Experience of site surveys and use of monitoring equipment.
Experience of design development and coordination activities (IDC, IDR etc).
Experience of the Network Rail GRIP process.
Experience of design production within Bentley Microstation CAD environment.
ETAP software experience preferred.
