The Role:
Job Purpose:
• To provide electrical engineering discipline support transversely across the Company and its contractors, in support of existing operations and new projects, with the provision of: correct technical guidance, systems of work and controls that ensure the ongoing fitness for purpose of electrical power systems and associated equipment (the discipline) in accordance with good industry practice and in compliance with all legislative and/or regulatory requirements.
• To ensure appropriate specification, design, manufacture, installation, inspection, testing and commissioning of new or changed electrical systems and equipment for various project assignments as directed by the Discipline Technical Authority.

Initially, the incumbent’s priority and main workload will be support to facilities development projects for Uganda & Bangladesh, which may require travel and periods of extended visit to FEED/EPC Contractor offices (to be selected), various international vendors’ works (for assurance and acceptance) and occasionally the sites in Uganda & Bangladesh during engineering coordination, construction, field trials, performance testing & commissioning. Assists the Discipline Technical Authority with the following:
• Controlling technical & operational change across all the company’s projects and facilities providing technical guidance and solutions where required.
• Preparation and maintenance of the Company’s electrical specifications and standards.
• Design, specification, manufacture, installation, inspection, testing & commissioning of new or modified electrical systems and equipment.
• Quality assures manufacture, testing and acceptance of electrical systems and equipment.
• Preparation and maintenance of the Company’s electrical safety rules and operational procedures for safe working, switching, isolation etc.
• Participate and or lead internal and external technical audits, takes part in incident investigations, pro-actively engages in survey, assessment or analysis of any technical situation in the field.
• Participates in design reviews, studies and leads electrical Safety & Operability (SAFOP) studies and operation reviews.
• Provides technical input on vendor, contractor & consultant selection and manages external specialist consultant or contract support, authorizing key project drawings and documents.
• Contributes to studies and participates in front end engineering design teams to develop philosophies, standards, designs and specifications for the discipline that are integral with facilities design requirements, project objectives and operational philosophies.
• Supervises detailed engineering facilities design (by contractors) for the discipline and its interfaces. Supervises the development of, and authorizes specifications for electrical systems and equipment.
• Programs and monitors field installation, commissioning & testing procedures and requirements, liaising with / directing site supervisory staff as necessary.
• Identifies and coordinates operational requirements including: maintenance and inspection programmes, spare parts requirements and training of electrical systems and equipment operators and technicians.
• Advises field operation and maintenance organizations on performance optimization and troubleshooting across all the company’s projects and facilities.

Financial Responsibility:
• The incumbent will influence decisions and technically assure capital equipment and works of $ high tens of millions value.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Higher Diploma or Degree qualified and Chartered Engineer

Skills:
 Extensive experience in the discipline within the international oil & gas industry, ideally including from concept basis-of-design to field operation.
 Previous experience with an Operator or in PMC role desirable, but not essential.
 Ensure Project Objectives and codes are met while reducing EPC cost. Ensure deliverables are complete and well defined.
 Knowledge of the full range of electrical systems and equipment used in the process, power generation and distribution industries.
 Ability to travel internationally to onshore and offshore sites as required.
