They are currently sourcing a SENIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER to join the MANCHESTER Office on Contract hire basis with Specific Switchgear experience.

As part of a long term alliance with a major Oil & Gas client based in Kuwait they are undertaking major revamp and modification/upgrade projects to help modernize the client’s Main Gathering Centre located at Wafra, Kuwait with many sub-centres throughout the three main oil fields that require modifications and further expansion.

The candidate will be a Senior Electrical Engineer with a proven track record in brownfield onshore oil and gas development projects to help support and grow a UK based project engineering design team that will execute FEED and detailed design projects as part of the overall modernisation project. We also handle most innovative projects involving Concept/ FEED studies, EPC Detailed Design Projects and Process Safety and Risk management as part of the overall project scope of works.

Good communication and presentation skills are essential. Some travel to Kuwait may be required.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The candidate must meet the following criteria:

Degree in appropriate subject
Minimum 10 years total experience in electrical engineering, post qualification
Minimum 5 years experience in Oil & Gas / Refinery or Petrochem industries
FEED study and ETAP experience

The candidate should have:

Good interpersonal skills
Confidence to interface with the client
Good working knowledge of Switchgear up to 33kV, compact GIS, Functionality of protection and control IEDs, substation monitoring and control network architecture (IEC61850) and serial communication connectivity.
Good working knowledge of ATEX and hazardous area applications
Appreciation of implementing and managing global workshare practises
Significant experience in Oil & Gas brownfield FEED, EPC Design Projects.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
The candidate should be able to:

Produce single line diagrams, protection schemes, Specifications, data sheets
Produce Requisitions for Quotation and tender assessments
Undertake Electrical engineering design work in with true regard to Safety both in design detail and engineering design execution
Carry out design work in compliance with the national, state and client asset Codes & Standards.
Be innovative in design work with due regard to minimisation of cost whilst maintaining technical integrity
Keep all project documentation in a state of readiness for Audit purposes
Clearly understand the Codes and Standards applicable to the work carried out and raise deviations where necessary
Carry out technical focal point duties if required
Liaise with the client engineer on technical and engineering matters on a regular basis
Promote good communications and co-ordination within the Electrical Team and with other disciplines
