The Role:
• Experience in evaluating and developing the design of high reliability control systems to meet client specifications while providing solutions to engineering challenges in all stages of a project from conceptual stage through to FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing).
• Ability to advise and drive the Electronic /Electrical group implementation of enhanced/non-standard system testing, engineering changes, process/product development, improvement of procedural documentation and NPI (New Product Introduction).
• Experience of supporting projects, meeting key milestones, objectives and timescales while ensuring internal/external stakeholders obtain services that are ‘right first time’ and of an overall expected quality level.
• Ability to ensure performance, quality and reliability targets for the products and systems are met or exceeded while concurrently ensuring they possess all required functionality and operate as per approved design.
• Team worker who is able to mentor/support other Engineers while ensuring all work carried out is performed within schedule with documentation and quality systems are adhered to.
• Ability to develop and deploy Electrical/Electronic control systems in a SIL (Safety Integrity Level) system conforming to IEC 61508 while utilising FMEA techniques
• Provide support, direction and drive standardisation within systems and processes for Engineering, Tendering, Supply Chain and Manufacturing.
• Ability to confirm scope of work in job prior to proceeding while advising on MDL timescales/resource requirements and pushing tasks to completion.
• Experience of Electronic/Electrical assemblies & systems conforming to IPC-610/620 (or other international standards) with the qualification of new processes, methods and technologies.
• Ability to assist in the development & mentoring of the engineering peer group to improve quality awareness and experience of systems in use within the company.
• Monitoring areas of work allocated to self and others, reporting current status, escalating issues in a timely manner. Provide reasoned technical solutions, estimating time to complete allocated work and required resource requirements to Lead Engineer, Principal Engineer and/or Line Manager.
• Degree or HNC / HND with relevant industry experience.
• Demonstrable relevant Electronic / Electrical Engineering experience in an industry with high reliability demands
• Will have a sound working knowledge of industrial best practices and demonstrable experience in electronic / electrical system design, implementation and Factory Acceptance Testing.
• Have a proven involvement with multi-disciplined Projects and be familiar with equipment, processes & activities throughout all levels of business.
• Proficient in control system design, implementation and commissioning
• Working knowledge of IEC61508 design processes
• Working knowledge of ISO 13628-6:2006
• Proficient in Autocad (or similar electronic / electrical design package)
• Working knowledge of FMEA/FMECA techniques
• Working knowledge of SAP.
• Knowledge of networking and an understanding of communication protocols used within control systems
• Ability to implement robust testing of electronic/electrical products and systems using Labview (or other automated test software)
• Proficient in Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Set objectives, monitor progress of activities as well as mentoring Engineers in order to achieve tasks and overcome technical problems
• Encourage a high level of performance within oneself and others ensuring a high regard for attention to detail
• A key member in the Group who creates a culture of continuous improvement, ‘right first time’ quality and technical innovation within products and documentation
• Evaluate situations, calculate risks and provide reasoned systematic and logical solutions to problems faced
• Provide the best solutions in terms of quality and cost.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
