The client is a leader within the Automation and Control Systems field with operations in 100 countries worldwide. They specialise in providing integrated solutions to the Transmission and Distribution and Oil & Gas industry with projects offshore and overseas.

The Role:
Job Title: Senior Electronic Design Engineer
Location: St. Neots
Rate/Salary: Negotiable
Duration: 6 Months
Residency: UK


As part of the UK electronic platform design team, the successful candidate will be involved in the development of industrial instrumentation products with a particular focus on analytical transmitter products. The role will primarily involve all aspects of embedded software design work from requirements gathering to final validation.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Design and development of embedded software for instrumentation products
• Documentation of requirements, design description, test plans and results ensuring the product and documents meet internal and external standards.
• Development of code in C and C++, using real time operating systems
• Working with other design engineers (including global teams) together with cross functional members of new product introduction teams


Capable of working to specific timescales and specifications.
• Able to reach set goals despite obstacles, setback or uncertainty
• Capable of working through difficulties to deliver on promises
• Able to see projects through from concept to completion
• Able to participate fully in a multi-disciplined design team to produce good quality, documented and tested work.
• Able to apply knowledge and skills to bring unique and innovative solutio

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Good degree in Electronic Engineering or other relevant technical discipline
• A high calibre candidate who has at least three years of experience in embedded software design, ideally in the development of industrial products.

Experience of embedded programming in C and C++
• Experience with real time operating systems
• Good working knowledge of analog and digital electronics

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Experience with industrial communications e.g. Profibus, Fieldbus Foundation or HART
• Experience with Renesas M16/32C processors
• Experience with embedded Linux
• Low power analogue design
• Intrinsic safety and explosion proof design for hazardous areas
