The Role:
The Heat Transfer Engineer is part of the Utilities and Heat Transfer Engineering Delivery Group.
The vision and goals of the delivery group (and of the individual) are:

- To participate in industry consortia's (e.g. JIP's, IFRF, AFRF) and standards (e.g. API/ISO) meetings.
- To lead equipment area initiatives concerning reliability, availability, operability, safety, technology

The Heat Transfer Engineer must be able to:
- Provide technical support, including troubleshooting, de-bottlenecking, and optimization, for unfired heat transfer equipment in operating plants, including all types of heat exchangers & air coolers; this consultancy work includes site visits as well as desk studies.
* Identify technologies that provide technical and business advantages over existing unfired heat transfer equipment/materials for applications in oil and gas industries, and establish value proposition (i.e. business case) for such technology solutions.
* Develop and conduct necessary computer modelling and simulation of material and heat transfer properties
* Engage partners outside company such as material suppliers, component fabricators, equipment manufacturers, engineering and design firms, and service contractors
- Preparation of unfired heat transfer equipment design (thermal, hydraulic, and mechanical).
- Project support / quality assurance.
- Training
- Guidance to technology development, design practices and procurement standards.
- Technical Assurance for projects and services within the Heat Transfer discipline.

The Heat Transfer Specialist will be working within the Regional Heat Transfer Equipment specialist group and will primarily work with:

1. Internal customers within the clientP&T organisation (Projects, Materials/Inspection, Mechanical, and Process groups)

2. Customers within clients and subsidieries refineries, chemical plants, NG/LNG plants, upstream facilities (Oil sands upgrader units, mines and onshore gas plants), etc.

3. Engineering Contractors and Heat Transfer Equipment Manufacturers.

The Heat Transfer Specialist is expected to deliver integrated solutions, that requires apart from the heat transfer skills, a sound understanding of the processes in which the heat transfer equipment is applied and understanding of the business environment. Although the HT Engineer will work principally in one region, peers within the Discipline are located in three regions. Alignment of technologies, workload sharing and optimization can be challenging

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Minimum of BS. in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering

- The Heat Transfer Specialist is expected to have a sound background in engineering, as well as knowledge in the field of heat transfer and physics of transport phenomena and fluid flow.
- Minimum 10 years experience in the specification, performance design and evaluation of unfired heat transfer equipment in the oil & gas exploration and production, refining, chemical, and petrochemical industries.

- Knowledgeable of industry codes and standards applied to heat transfer equipment, including ASME, TEMA and API/ISO standards

- Skilled in the design and performance analysis of unfired heat transfer equipment using the Heat Transfer Research Inc. (HTRI) software tools.

- Knowledgeable of enhanced heat transfer equipment, devices and techniques.

- Knowledgeable of exchanger operation & control, mechanical design aspects and maintenance activities & procedures.
- Strong project management and coordination skills
