The Company:
My client, a multi-specialist energy services company operating in the thermal power, nuclear, petrochemical, oil & gas and pharmaceutical industries. Due to continued expansion Combustion Systems Lead Engineer based in there Sussex offices.

The Role:
The main purpose of this role is to provide combustion systems engineering expertise as relevant to low NOx coal / oil / gas burner systems and associated combustion equipment for application to large utility fossil fuel power generation plant. You will be the Responsible Combustion Engineer for a major project - this will require an innovative approach to deliver quality, timely and profit margin enhancing contract designs. The commitment to complete the contract scope in set timescales and within the contract allowance is an essential requirement.
The role will also require you to support preparation of tenders for the combustion systems scope of multi-disciplinary contract award winning proposal designs.

• Educated in an appropriate Engineering discipline to degree level, or equivalent, preferably with chartered status.
• Previous extensive and appropriate experience in Combustion Systems Engineering, preferably in the field of fossil fuel power generation, for the design of low NOx combustion systems and associated combustion equipment including an understanding of their mechanical aspects.
• Full understanding of the technical and safety requirements for boiler plant and fuel supply systems is essential.
• Proven record of achievement of technically adequate fit for purpose and cost effective design through delivery of major FEED / EPC contracts is essential.
• Ability to demonstrate full competency in Combustion Systems design for key scope covering low NOx burner design, emissions performance, burner / fuel supply / ancillary system pressure loss, fuel gas supply system design, burner ignitors & ignitor supply system design, flame monitors and code requirements, fuel oil including associated steam/air & steam tracing system design, coal milling & feeder systems, process flow diagrams, operating philosophies and P&IDs, process design specifications for combustion equipment, technical bid evaluations, performance guarantees and performance testing requirements within the contract scope of supplies.
• Experienced in BMS and combustion control logic HAZOP studies, design safety reviews and technical risk assessments.
• Working knowledge and application of all relevant national and international coal/oil/gas systems design codes, legislation, standards and quality procedures along with excellent commercial awareness is essential.
