The Company:
A luxury Automotive OEM based in the West Midlands. After continued growth & success there are a number of new exciting engineering projects underway and we currently have requirements for experienced engineering professionals.
The Role:
To lead the safety restraints development, design and change management across all programs to ensure all targets and legislative requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
•Define component level targets (from legal requirements, OEM (SDS), SAE, industry standard practice.
•Own the Final Engineering Signoff (FESO) documents.
•Take ownership for the development and change management of vehicle restraints systems (airbags, seatbelts, steering wheel) across VH platform vehicles.
•Lead the management of external suppliers to deliver all program targets.
•Control the component DVP and supplier D&D tests for restraints components.
•Ensure failure avoidance tools and processes (DFMEA/FMA) are applied to restraint components.
•Ensure engineering releases are completed to highest quality and on time.
•Ensure restraint related concerns are resolved to the highest quality and on time.
•Lead engineering decision making towards issue resolution.
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Good understanding and experience in Vehicle Safety Restraint Systems is preferred (although role would also suit a good recent graduate).
•Engineering degree (i.e. MEng/BEng) (or equivalent).
•Experience of leadership or clear evidence of leadership ability.
•Clear knowledge of fundamental engineering theory.
•Able to manage suppliers to deliver to all program targets.
•Able to plan and execute project work for achievement of sub system team targets.
•CAD (NX) knowledge would be an advantage.
•Must be able to learn quickly and integrate into a successful and dynamic team.
•Offer strong character attributes as well as necessary knowledge and experience.
•Excellent organisational skills, self-starting and self-motivated.
•Driving licence and medical clearance to drive company vehicles.
