Position Description:
Saudi Aramco is seeking a Senior Boiler and Fired Heater Consultant to work within the Consulting Services Department (CSD). The CSD provides Saudi Aramco with effective specialized engineering consultations and introduces viable technologies and maintains quality standards. The Heat Transfer Systems Unit of CSD provides technical consultations on issues related to several categories of equipment and systems, including:
- Heat transfer equipment (heat exchangers, industrial boilers, HRSG, SRUs, fired heaters, refractory and insulation systems).
- HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning).
- Nonelectrical utilities systems (industrial drainage, sanitary sewer systems and water distribution systems).
The unit also maintains relevant mandatory Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards and Material Specifications (SAES and SAMSS). It develops and implements companywide technical equipment programs (Fitness for Service Assessment, Heat Exchangers Fouling and Assessment, Boiler and Fired Heater Optimization, Refractory and Insulations Integrity, companywide CFC Refrigerant Phase Out).

Duties & Responsibilities
- Act as the company's foremost consultant in the company’s dealing with other Saudi Aramco departments, Saudi Arabian government agencies, U.S. companies and universities on fired equipment and heat transfer systems.
- Provide capital and operations program leadership by conceiving, designing and carrying out major fired equipment studies to resolve complex technical problems, increase revenue, optimize processes, protect the environment, or improve safety.
- Develop and maintain Saudi Aramco’s engineering standards and design best practices to enhance company profitability, safety and productivity.
- Evaluate and introduce best practice and emerging technologies from all over the world to help the company achieve best in class positions in the oil business.
- Evaluate major long-term trends in the area of fired equipment and serves as a major conduit of technology transfer within the company.
- Develop potentially patentable new equipment and processes.
- Develop ideas for major technical studies or projects to be carried out by less senior specialists.
- Contribute to taskforce investigations to investigate major incidents or solve specific problems.
- Provide engineering leadership and counsel other team members.
- Act as a professional mentor to less senior specialists and transfer implicit knowledge to specialists and other engineers.
- Carry out economic studies and cost analyses of particular importance in the field.
- Conduct field inspections and make recommendations for changes in facilities or operations.
- Promote a learning environment and implement self-development to maintain and improve expert status in highly specialized technical and general engineering fields.
- Active in developing/educating young Saudi Arab engineers and promoting engineering.
- Deliver technical presentations and write papers for peer-reviewed journals on engineering studies and projects he has overseen.
- Actively participate in work of technical societies, and participate in specialized committees within appropriate groups

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Engineering or other related degree from an accredited university. A Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.) license or registration would be desirable but is not essential.
- A minimum of 20 years of professional experience, including at least 10 years as a specialist with full responsibility for major technical work in the fired equipment, including fired heaters, boilers, burners, HRSG, SRU, incinerators, refractories, etc.
- Recognized both within and outside of the company as a leading expert in the field of fired equipment.
- Expert in the design, performance evaluation, monitoring and troubleshooting of fired equipment (fired heaters, boilers, burners and thermal reactors, incinerators, refractories, etc.).
- Have introduced and implemented new technologies related to fired equipment.
- Have identified and implemented energy efficient improvement and software.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- Must be able to develop programs that can solve combustion, de-coking and heat transfer problems in heaters, boilers and SRUs.
- Author technical papers related to fired equipment.
- Conduct a design check for API heaters and steam/hydrogen reformer.
- Provide guidance on heater startup/shutdown procedures and abnormalities.
- Lead technical role supporting projects (low-NOx burner retrofits, heat rebuilder and revamp projects, heater and boiler control), repair and revamp of thermal reactors and incinerators in SRU units, refractory material selection for fire heater applications.
- Experience in the fabrication and installation of fired equipment.
- Develop and deliver both classroom and practical fired equipment training for operators and engineers.
