The Role:
The Department
The Exploration and Development department is a matrix organisation, in which staff work in integrated asset teams (consisting of geologists, geophysicist and reservoir engineers), and report to asset leaders as part of their position and to the heads of their respective disciplines on a professional basis (geology, geophysics, reservoir engineering). Petrophysics provide technical support to the asset teams.

The Asset Team
An asset team is responsible for the subsurface activities involving its asset. They cover all the evaluation work that is required for the optimum production of the fields, surveying the exploration potential, presenting proposals for the exploration and / or production wells and workovers, and the preparation of field development plans, amongst other things. For this purpose the asset team analyses all relevant information and conducts operations to collect assess and process that data. In addition, an asset team records and analyses the operations department on the performance of production related activities. An asset team advises the commercial department on gas contract negotiations, unitisation and balancing.

The Role
This Geologist will lead geological studies, fully integrated with seismic, well and production data.You will be responsible for evaluating geological data and combining it with geophysical and reservoir related information for the optimal and efficient extraction all of the reserves within the asset. as well as identifying and exploiting business opportunities within and relating to and asset which may contribute to an increase in the value of GDF Suez.You will conduct, direct and participate in reservoir characterization studies.

Responsibilities

•Conducts, directs and participates in reservoir characterization studies.
• Incorporates all available geological data to enhance theunderstanding of reservoir potential in producing and undeveloped fields.
• Builds 3D geological static models by integration of reservoir rock typing, structural, seismic and petrophysical data.
• Evaluates geological uncertainties, performs risk assessment and volumetric calculations.
• Supports Reservoir Engineers in simulation studies.
• Is responsible for all geological team studies, integration of study results with other disciplines and quality control of geological contractors.
• During drilling operations acts as geological focal point to ensure that the geological programme is followed.
• Delivers geological contribution to internal and external documentation.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• MSc or equivalent in Geology or a related subject is essential.
• Extensive experience is required along with a background in reservoir/production geology gained through working for an operating company.
• Up to date knowledge of geological modelling software.
• Familiarity with the Southern North Sea or Dutch North Sea is desirable.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• You must be a self sufficient self starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent working knowledge of English language.
