The Company:
A leading player in the global energy market and in all aspects of the energy sector, particularly natural gas.

The Role:
To provide geological support to the Lower 48 Production Asset. The position is part of a small multi-disciplinary team that provides technical support and strategic leadership for US shale across the Lower 48 producing asset. The incumbent will report to a US shale technical team leader.

Delivers the geological elements of US shale projects. Decides on appropriate workflows and technical approach to projects. Ensures best practices are developed and delivered. Will lead specific technical projects. Will mentor and advise other US shale technical staff in the core group and across the Group

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

Experience in a range of US shale projects across several basins

Interpretation and planning for US shale projects

Evaluation of multiple data sources
Collaboration with other disciplines such as reservoir engineering, well engineering and facilities engineering
Involvement in reserves estimation in a variety of US shale projects
Operational field experience of US shale projects

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally to other disciplines, management and external bodies
An understanding of the special aspects of US shale gas, including geology, desorption analysis, gas saturation, petrophysics, geophysics, porosity and fracturing mechanics;

Able to relate geological deposition and tectonic stresses (over time) to production of US shales.
Comfortable with exploration geology, including uncertainty and risks in evaluating prospects. Should be able to clearly articulate a recommendation on the technical aspects of a project, using uncertain and limited data.

Familiar with available support services – laboratories, consultants, research institutes etc and understand the proper procedures for establishing gas content and OGIP.

Sufficient reservoir engineering and operations familiarity to work productively as part of a multi-disciplinary US shale team.

Proficiency in Petra, ArcGis software, working knowledge in Petrel and SMT Kingdo
