The Role:
•Completes extensive geophysical and geological mapping based on 2D/3D/4D seismic data – constructing maps illustrating structural and stratigraphic relationships and maps of amplitude and other seismic attributes
•Initiate, investigate and evaluate drilling prospects for natural gas and oil across Oklahoma operating area
•Service as key liaison between MRO and OU / OSU geosciences departments for on-going project work between MRO and the universities.
•Utilize seismic software applications, such as Hampson-Russell used to derive attributes, geophysical models, balancing, synthetic seismograms, ray tracing, wavelet analysis and mapping to examine data and test geophysical and geological ideas
•Technical responsibilities include geophysical mapping, AVO modeling, fluid substitutions identify and correlate seismic events for time-depth relationship
•Plan and implement new geophysical programs, primarily seismic acquisition, in the operating areas. Calculate field parameters for geophysical program
•Utilize geophysical software proficiently to evaluate large volumes of seismic data; recommend acquisition of new seismic data as needed or recommend reprocessing along with new software technology to enhance and streamline workflows
•Reservoir characterization through interaction with engineering and geological disciplines
•Seismic stratigraphic analysis using the concepts of sequence stratigraphy for both carbonate and clastic systems
•Mentor other geoscientists

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree req., in Geophysical Sciences or closely related discipline (Physics, Math, Geology); MS preferred
•Minimum 12+ years industry experience in Exploration and Production; experience in basin analysis, play fairway mapping, seismic stratigraphy, carbonate stratigraphy, rock physics or source rock characterization a plus
•Familiarity with Landmark seismic interpretation software; Seisworks, Geoprobe, Decision Space Desktop
•Minimum 8+ years experience technical geophysical work; experience processing shale prospects to technical maturity a plus.
•Ability to proactively identify critical risk elements and design workplans to address
•Must be a motivated self starter with good organizational and reasoning skills
•Experience with on-shore conventional and unconventional resource plays preferred
•Broad knowledge of VSP and MicroSeismic acquisition and processing software preferred
