The Role:
Position Overview

Reporting to the Subsurface Manager the Senior Geophysicist will be part of a multi-disciplinary subsurface team that is responsible for the long-term management, development and optimisation of large, mature fields, associated satellite developments and near field exploration opportunities. The Senior Geophysicist will provide geophysical input into the subsurface activities associated with the fields and discoveries in the asset.

Accountable for the following activities:
- Carry out seismic interpretation (structural interpretation and reservoir characterisation) as input to geological and reservoir simulation models for the fields and discoveries in the asset.
- Manage geophysical studies carried out by in house and by 3rd party contractors and vendors.
- Work with the other members of the multi-disciplinary subsurface team to identify infill drilling opportunities.
- Define well target locations for these drilling opportunities.
- Acting for the Subsurface Manager when required.

Duties include but not limited to the following:
- Seismic interpretation and mapping 3D datasets covering producing fields and discoveries as they move towards and through development.
- Generation of infill drilling opportunities and evaluation of well results.
- Participation in multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Provide input for enhanced processing of seismic datasets and QI projects.
- Data room evaluations of potential farm-ins.
- Other duties consistent with employee's expertise and status may also be assigned according to business needs.
- Build and maintain a seismic data strategy in support of subsurface and asset strategies.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Substantial oil industry experience, preferably with an operating company.
- Strong technical background in seismic interpretation.
- A track record of using QI and time-lapse seismic datasets to deliver improved subsurface understanding.
- Up-to-date knowledge of interpretation in Petrel software packages preferred.
- Solid understanding of other subsurface disciplines.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree, or equivalent, in geophysics or geology
- Experience working within a major project environment is desirable.
