The Role:
The Subsurface Department is seeking an experienced geoscientist who can work as a self directed prospect generator in a variety of basin settings. Primarily the individual will be charged with increasing our portfolio of drillable opportunities by identifying and acquiring new inventory through the license rounds, farm-ins and/or trades.

The individual will report functionally to either the Manager Geology or Geophysics (depending on their technical background) but as part of the Subsurface Department’s matrix organisation will work in multidisciplinary project and/or license teams. Geographical focus will depend on the individual’s prior experience and own preference. Historically our client has had a focus on Norwegian Sea licenses but is currently seeking to increase the portfolio of North Sea and Barents Sea acreage.

The scope of the position means that the successful applicant will be expected to be comfortable multi-tasking in a delivery focused and fast moving environment. Our client offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of exploration activities, perhaps simultaneously delivering high quality technical evaluations of new opportunities whilst dealing with operational activities associated with our client’s operated licenses.

Depending on experience and motivation, there will be opportunities to lead project teams to mature operated licenses, and deliver applications for APA or major license rounds.

Key Responsibilities
• Identify & mature opportunities and bring forward robust technical recommendations
• Secure quality contributions to application documents
• Apply specialist knowledge to discussions with partners to influence work programs and key decisions
• Provide input to other project teams and individuals within the department to ensure that specialist skills and experience are appropriately
shared and leveraged across the organisation
• Representing our client in exploration committees for Operated or Non-Operated licenses

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Required Skills: Technical – Senior Geologist
• Passion & enthusiasm to explore within a regional, play based context
• Proven ability to generate ideas and mature them through to lead and prospect status for investment decisions
• Ability to appropriately identify and characterize risks & inputs to resource estimation
• Strong seismic interpretation & visualization experience, and ability to work with poor quality data
• Working knowledge of sequence stratigraphic principles & the ability to incorporate those interpretations into play fairway mapping within
clastic environments, i.e. deepwater, shallow marine & fluvio-deltaic environments
• Familiarity with the geology & tectonic history of the Barents Sea, Norwegian Sea &/or North Sea
• Comprehensive experience of standard geological/ geophysical software, including workstation interpretation experience (e.g. Petrel or
other mapping/visualization tool.
• Degree in geology or geophysics

• 10 years of relevant industry experience with significant contributions to exploration
