The Company:
A major, international oil and gas company

The Role:
This position is working on a 5/3 rotation.

The Geotechnical Engineer will be accountable to the CPF Construction Manager and will be responsible for the following:
i.Oversee, during site preparation and throughout construction, the CPF EPC Contractors inspection of foundation strata to confirm formation levels. Review conclusions and direct as required deepening or other additional work deemed necessary to achieve the design intent.
ii.Oversee and review CPF EPC Contractor’s work associated with earthworks, roads and drainage construction, including:
•Identification of materials.
•Preparation, segregation, blending, stockpiling and disposal of materials.
•Earthworks trials for structural fill materials around foundations.
•Construction of flood mitigation works.
•Conventional cut and fill earthworks.
•Placement of HDPE liners and final surface wearing course to promote water run-off.
•Inspection and approval of final cut layer.
iii.Oversee quarrying/ barrow pit activities necessary to provide site won materials for earthworks and structural fill requirements.
iv.Manage supplementary investigation work, surveys and monitoring required for the design and execution of the temporary and permanent works executed by the contractor.
v Review CPF EPC Contractor guidance on measures to be adopted to ensure safe access to and safety and stability of all temporary and permanent works excavations.
vi.Oversee and review CPF EPC Contractor’s approach to circumstances under which temporary/local water tables could impact construction activities.
vii.Provide technical support and review of CPF EPC Contractor’s site preparation activities related to the permanent works including, but not limited to:

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Experience of large civil earthwork projects and infrastructure projects, roads etc.
•Experience of working in arid to semi-arid environments; particularly in respect to ground conditions unique to these environments and the impact of the extreme climatic conditions on construction works and earthworks.
