The Role:
Senior Heat Rejection Engineer Gasoline and Diesel Engines.
Plan the calculation of all heat rejection sources of engines under development or simply being upgraded /uprated in some manner.
Understanding of emissions calibration must be conceptually understood to understand how `on road engine operation will be effected.
The requirements are to support part load as well as full load, so the use of features such as EGR and various warm-up strategies must be evaluated and must be understood and developed with the calibration and development teams.
Initial studies will be conducted with the CAE team using 1D applications such as Ricardo WAVE, where the model must be ensured to be fully correlated with existing test data.
Must supervise development engines preparation and plan testing to ensure engines have appropriate specialist instrumentation and all aspects of the test requirements are met to fully replicate the vehicle cooling and performance.
Further requirements will need to be prepared for non-standard ambient operating conditions such as high ambient temperatures and altitude and combinations of both for the vehicle operating conditions.
Must coordinate both CAE and engine testing reports and ensure all the required data is supplied to the cooling and thermal management test teams in a timely manner to support all engine gateways.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Some knowledge of both diesel and gasoline combustion and performance is essential as well as the ability to evaluate key attributes.
Experience of gasoline and diesel test bed work including steady state and dynamic test cells.
A proven `track record in delivering projects on time and with quality.
Program management skills.
Full UK Driving License - valid for duration of contract

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Working knowledge of calibration and testing tools. Outline understanding of 1D CAE tools such as Ricardo WAVE.
Dyno based performance development of gasoline or diesel engine calibration and development.
Knowledge of performance componentry for both gasoline and diesel engines will be advantageous.
Engineering degree min 2.2 (mechanical engineering preferred)
