The Role:
Senior HESQ Professional:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, HESQ, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical leadership and direction of the health, environmental, safety and security systems and programs within the Site.

Summary of key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Develop and implement HESQ procedures and programs.
• Compile, maintain, report and analyse HESQ information (incidents, waste management, industrial hygiene and others) as well as HSE trends/KPI’s and develop improvement plans as required.
• Conduct process safety analysis - risk assessment, hazard & operability analysis etc.
• Lead and participate in audits and incident investigations.
• Develop and manage environmental monitoring programmes.
• Practice and reinforce safe work practices through behavioural observation process and by coordinating and conducting HSE training for employees and contractors.
• Work closely with employee groups, Corporate HSE group, regulatory authorities and other external stakeholders on HESQ related matters.
• Support other HESQ related activities within the group as needed.

The successful candidate will be seen as a subject matter expert and must have a familiarity with activities on an ammonia plant as well as possess the flexibility to work within an industrial complex, including confined spaces and at heights.

Candidate Competencies:
The successful candidates will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment and effectively handle multiple tasks within stipulated deadlines. They will project a professional image, be resourceful and have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) across all levels of the organization. The selected candidates will be organized individuals who can work a flexible schedule.

The successful candidates will also be functionally competent with Enterprise Resource Planning System (SAP preferred) as well as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and MS Project.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a B.Sc. in Engineering (preferably Chemical or Mechanical) or a B.Sc. in Occupational Health and Safety from an accredited Institution, with at least 10 years of applicable industry HESQ experience and at least five years in a senior supervisory position. A post graduate degree in an applicable field would be an asset.

The candidate will have an excellent understanding of the OSH Act, EM Act and other related regulations applicable to oil and gas industry as well as experience with systems/programs such as:
• Environmental Monitoring
• Process Safety
• Emergency Response
• Waste Management
• Pollution Prevention
• Industrial Hygiene and Indoor Air Quality
• ISO Systems
