The Role:
Ensure that they and discipline personnel are appraised and aware of any health, safety, environmental and security issues that are required for home office and site related visits and work for proposals and projects.
Advise the Chief Engineer (Discipline Department) of any health, safety, environmental, security or competency issues, including residual risks that are relevant to the office, proposals and projects.
The execution of proposal and project work, in a Senior Designer role in accordance with the Project Execution Plan (PEP), Project Co-ordination Procedure (PCP), Project Instructions (PI) and Discipline Design Instructions (DDI’s).
Produce calculations, written documents, spreadsheets, databases and drawings as required to support proposals, projects and other special needs and that each is in compliance with the relevant codes, standards and procedures. Ensure such documents are properly and consistently drafted, checked and approved. Check designs and code calculations undertaken by others.
To establish and maintain a good working relationship within proposals and projects.
To provide relevant knowledgeable practical skills in the response and actions for
Site visits including safety when at site, investigations and document and record retrieval
Site surveys, including component use of measurement tools and recording
Site queries
Supplier, vendor, contractor, client and site related discussions.
To contribute towards a healthy, safe, environmentally sound and secure working environment, in the home office, on projects and during visits and periods on site or in other offices. To be aware of response and actions required, and to implement these actions, in the event of excursions from the safe conditions.
•To provide discipline technical and engineering services to a standard and proficiency commensurate with the clients Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Assurance (HSEQ) System.
•The execution of proposal and project work in a Senior Designer capacity.
• To understand the extent, methods and means of producing and need for Discipline Design deliverables and main activities. To have an understanding of the budgets required to produce these and to seek to achieve or better these metrics.
•To have an understanding of the sequence, logic and dependencies of discipline activities leading to an effective contribution and fulfilment of the proposal or project programme.
•To provide technical skills and experience in the approach, preparation, checking and fulfilment of calculations, drawings, diagrams and other deliverables and activities, and to recognise and advise personal competency and development needs.
•Maintain a contemporary technical competency through familiarity and knowledge, learning and development in the discipline subject area.
•Demonstrate a means of continual development. Demonstrate practical appreciation and skills of discipline technical matters.
•To be familiar with the clients HSEQ Manuals, and to have experience and understanding of the requirements to meet design codes, standards and procedures and be able to implement the Client quality documents as defined in the project control documents
•To be self motivated and also able to work in a team and be able to achieve goals.
•To represent the client in a professional, conscientious and ethical manner.
•To represent clients as participant with clients, suppliers, vendors, contractors and at other offices.
•To advise the Chief Engineer (Discipline Department) of issues on proficiency or deficiency in the skills and competencies of the Discipline Department as they become apparent. To suggest improvements in the discipline department.
