The Company:
Our client has been engaged in the exploration and production of natural gas in the Netherlands and the North Sea Continental Shelf since 1964. In the Dutch sector of the North Sea, gas is produced from 22 platforms and 3 subsea production installations. Most of the platforms are unmanned and remotely operated; four have gas treatment facilities.

The Role:
-Reports to the Control Team leader within the ECD Engineering Section
-Summary of positions reporting to the Control Team Leader: Instrument Engineers (2), Electrical Engineer (1), DCS engineers (2)

-Provides instrument engineering expertise engineering expertise for TEPNL production facilities: 4 Treatment Centres with separation, dehydration, compression and liquid treatment,
17 offshore satellites with separation and water treatment facilities and 2 subsea facilities with an average overall production of 15 MNm3/d in 2009.
-Ensures the execution of 50 MSRs (Modification & Study Request) per year with a total value of 2k€ - 4M€/year.
-Responsible for co-ordination of 2 engineering jobs per year executed with the assistance of an external Consultant.
-Maintains expertise on TEPNL fiscal metering applications

-Responsible for the instrument engineering of all modifications (MSR’s) assigned to the jobholder, carried out on the existing TEPN facilities by ECD Engineering.
-Provides instrument engineering support to Projects for new developments & revamps / upgrades, by contributing to the design of new instrumentation architecture.
-Issues scope(s) of work and/or performs conceptual design studies, basic engineering studies, detail engineering, provides cost-estimates, and planning related to assigned tasks.
-Produces AFC (Approved for Construction ) Engineering packages for MSR’s under the responsibility of the jobholder. Ensures quality of the packages.
-Contributes to the ECD budget management, by ensuring that the budget of each MSR under the responsibility of the jobholder is managed such that overruns are avoided, and that
deviations from the approved budgets are reported in an early stage.
-Responsible for the control and approval of scopes of work, cost estimates, bids and planning submitted by Contractors and/or Consultants.
-Ensures application of Total GS General Specifications & rules, and applicable local legislation, for all aspects relating to design of instrumentation, control and ESD systems.
-Responsible to issue requisition for purchasing, expediting, inspection/functional testing of equipment required for MSR’s under the responsibility of the jobholder, in close co-
ordination with CPD.
-Participates in root-cause analysis (RCA), SIL Assessments and HAZOP/HAZID studies
-Maintains knowledge by keeping up-to-date with the latest technologies in instrumentation and process control.
-Maintains good contacts with Total Group 'metier' Instrumentation, Authorities (e.g., Lloyds), customers such as Gas Terra, and other North Sea operators in order to keep up to
date with the latest developments in instrumentation and process control

-The execution of activities may be rescheduled due to operational constraints, requiring flexibility.
-Within the given constraints of Company Rules and General Specifications, procedures, budget, quality and due date, the jobholder is responsible for the engineering quality of his
work, and performs without direct supervision.

-Ensures execution of tasks for an MSR assigned to him, within the given budget and planning (plan attainment), and performs the tasks required to report the status accurately and
within time.
-Ensures HSE compliance by design, actively participates in risk assessments, ATEX & design reviews, SIL classifications
-Ensures minimum risk for HSE and a minimum production loss during the execution of the modification at location

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
-Qualification: BSc in Instrumentation & Process Control, or equivalent
-Experience: Minimum 5 years within the Petroleum industry
-Specific knowledge: Detailed knowledge of Instrument Engineering.
-Pro-active with good organisational skills, team spirit, strong communication skills (verbal & written) and service minded
-English language is mandatory, both spoken & written
