The Company:
Our Client’s engineering division, has been a leader in the design of drilling facilities for offshore platforms worldwide for over 30 years. The company’s 700-strong workforce provides a range of engineering services from pre-project and Front End Engineering Design (FEED) through detail design, construction support, hook-up and commissioning.

The Role:
a) Knowledge of, and compliance with, the organisation Management Systems.
b) Knowledge of, and compliance with, client, industry and international specifications and standards.
c) Supervision of Discipline Engineers under own control, and for the technical content and quality of work produced by these discipline personnel.
d) Direction of Discipline Designer(s) allocated to own area of responsibility and frequent liaison to ensure coordination.
e) Production of cost effective engineering solutions that are fit for purpose, safe and add value to both the organisation and the Client. Motivation of discipline personnel allocated to own area of responsibility to do similarly.
f) Originating engineering documentation for allocated workscopes, e.g. calculations, design reports and specifications, and checking similar documentation and workpacks created by others.
g) Ensuring operational and maintenance issues are addressed in the design. Seeking input from operations and maintenance personnel and, if beneficial, carrying out presentations to site personnel regarding changes to their installation.
h) Surveys, both onshore and offshore, to determine information to allow execution of workscopes.
i) Raising requisitions for purchase of engineered items and services, as directed by the Lead Discipline Engineer.
j) Execution of work within manhour budget and time schedule.
k) Early identification to the Lead Discipline Engineer of areas of concern during the course of any project or study with necessary corrective action identified.
l) Checking engineering content of design deliverables for allocated workscopes, e.g. drawings, bills of material.
m) Review of Supplier / Vendor documents.
n) Communication, where appropriate, with Engineers of other disciplines to ensure design integrity and consistency.
o) Technical input to procurement activities and raising requisitions for purchase of engineered items and services.
p) Identification of increase or reduction in scope of work and advising the Lead Discipline Engineer accordingly.
q) Following discipline procedures for document control and use and retention of check prints / IDC comments prints as directed by the Lead Discipline Engineer.
r) Representation of the organisation with Clients and Suppliers / Vendors in a professional manner.
s) Assistance to the Lead Discipline Engineer as directed.
t) Act as discipline focal point to others in small multidisciplinary project team
u) Demonstrates a higher level of competence, research ability, technical knowledge and experience than would be expected of a Discipline Engineer
v) Estimates manhour, deliverable and schedule requirements for small projects and workscopes under the direction of the Lead Discipline Engineer
