The Company:
Our client is a leading engineering solutions provider for blue-chip companies in the UK.

Our client currently has a number of Projects with both nationally and internationally recognised Clients. These cover Front End Engineering Packages and EPCm Project Delivery in both brownfield and greenfield environments.

The Role:
Senior Instrument Engineer, Hydrocarbons & Chemicals
Role location - Manchester

Responsible for all discipline technical input to projects or proposals. Makes independent technical decisions associated with the project.
Responsible for control of project activities in accordance with Company and project quality requirements.
Organises discipline staff allocated to project and is responsible for allocation of tasks to staff.
Ensures that all applicable national and international codes and company and client standards and procedures are applied correctly to the project.
Ensure personal compliance with current company policy, relevant legislation and company and client’s requirements for Health, safety and Environmental matters and work in such a manner not to cause personal harm or injury to fellow workers, client and subcontractor employees or the environment.
To be aware of legal and organisational responsibilities regarding Health, Safety and Environmental issues with respect to employees, contractors, clients and third parties, ensuring that activities are managed in accordance with Company policy and client requirements.
Responsible for efficiency and productivity of staff allocated to project control of manhours allocated on a project. Also responsible for engineering within estimated capital equipment expenditure on projects.
Responsible for carrying out discipline activity in a timely manner within defined project programmes.
Responsible for the integration of discipline engineering and design activities.
Provide project reports, resource forecasts and variation claims and change order reports to projects and the Chief Instrumentation Engineer.
To foster good working relationships and liaisons with client’s engineers and vendors
To provide training, information or instruction and to give feedback.
To set objectives, to assist colleagues and subordinates in achieving the objectives, to conduct performance reviews and issue to line managers.
To cascade information to individuals on organisational performance, policy and procedures and to report back to senior management subordinate comments and recommendations for improvements in performance and removal of constraints that are preventing performance.
To offer advice and support to colleagues and subordinates on development needs taking into account work activities, learning ability and circumstances.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Good working knowledge of the technology and working practices of the Discipline Group.
To be an effective written and verbal communicator able to mix and communicate effectively at the same level within client, Company and vendor organisations.
Under supervision to be able to effectively plan and carry out own work assignments and co-ordinate work of others.
For a Project Discipline Engineer responsibility to be able to organise project staff and allocate and supervise work to carry out projects and proposals.

If a Degree:
1, A commensurate amount of post-graduate experience within of all aspects of a number of projects from concept to commissioning. Preferably employed in a design contractor’s office, or alternatively a client’s or equipment manufacturer’s design office and had the opportunity of feedback from completed projects.
2, Experience and training acceptable for admission as Chartered Engineer.
