The Company:
Our client is a world-wide manufacturing organisation, employing thousands of people in a variety of disciplines. Operating from 6 manufacturing sites in Europe and a host of sites globally their product is found in some form or other in every home.

The Role:
1. To convert agreed elements of the IT strategic plan into properly scoped, costed and resourced IT development projects by working with other IT team members, key members of the business and potential suppliers to fully understand project and business requirements and recommend technical options and process improvement opportunities.

2. Manage relationships with agreed external vendors, including requesting proposals and technical evaluation of proposed solutions.

3. For own projects obtain commitment from the Business Management team to the defined project scope, financial expenditure, resource requirements and project benefits.
4. Project manage agreed application and infrastructure change projects including the contribution of non-IT members of the project. On occasion management of Business projects may also be required.

5. Carry budgetary responsibility for delivery of all projects within agreed values and ensure adequate systems are in place for the proper control and reporting of project progress (time and cost).

6. To lead the commissioning and integration of agreed IT Application and Infrastructure projects into normal ongoing business operation ensuring that the full benefits of the project are achieved within the business functions.

7. Act as the key point of contact for Manufacturing Applications within the EMEA business providing consultancy and advice to the business and other members of the EMEA IT team.

8. Support other members of the IT team in providing infrastructure technical consultancy to business managers as appropriate.

9. To manage and develop the EMEA IT Project Manager and Manufacturing Application Analyst ensuring they deliver their roles as agreed.

10. Coordinate the process for update and financial accuracy of the Global and EMEA IT Capital plans and be the guardian of the IT Project Excellence approach.

Special Features
This role will involve significant interaction with external IT service and application providers. The job holder must have experience in developing and managing robust relationships with multiple suppliers that deliver the required services / projects.

The job holder requires specialist IT skills to allow them to understand and work within the client's infrastructure standards and deployed architecture

The job holder should understand business processes within the European businesses and their interaction with the IT systems. In particular they will be the expert within the IT team for Manufacturing applications and have a strong understanding of use of IT in these areas.

The job holder must be able to articulate effectively at the boundary between the business opportunities/requirements and IT capabilities at all levels up to Site / Business Director.
The job holder will be responsible for effective delivery of a wide range of IT technical and Business projects. This requires excellent interpersonal, relationship building and influencing skills combined with tenacity to bring about the required process and business changes at all levels within the client's business.
The jobholder needs to spend time working directly with individuals and groups across Europe. This requires regular travel in UK (1-2 times per month) and occasionally Europe.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Degree or Equivalent with at least 10 years’ experience Business experience, 5 of which in an IT ‘function’
• Strong Project Management skills
• Supplier and service management skills
• Strong IT technical and process awareness – particularly for the Manufacturing and Engineering areas.
