The Company:
International oil and gas operator.

The Role:
This international oil and gas company is expanding its activities in the Gulf of Mexico and is seeking experienced Geophysicists with 10+ years of relevant experience. The position is in the Prospect Maturation Team for identifying and maturing prospects in current leases in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. The role requires the ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams. The job title will be
Senior or Lead Geophysicist depending on the level of experience, reporting to the Gulf of Mexico Exploration Manager.

-Effectively and accurately interpret seismic data in challenging imaging areas such as
subsalt
-Proactively participate in evaluation of technical work performed in the Houston office
and other offices
-Interpret inversion and other seismic attribute volumes.
-Predict fluid properties and interpret AVO responses
-Support technical standards and workflows
-Provide accurate input for Static Models
-Work closely with various technical specialists in one or more exploration teams
-Recommend lease sale purchases, farm-ins and divestures based on solid technical
work integrating both geologic and geophysical data
-Recommend areas and plays for future exploration
-Able to carry out complex assignments with minimal supervision.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
-10+ years oil industry experience in prospect generation and play based exploration.
-Advanced workstation-based seismic interpretation and mapping (preferably Landmark or Geoframe)
-Experience in velocity model building and/or seismic reprocessing is desirable
-Experience with both structural and stratigraphic traps.
-Experience leading peer based risk and resource meetings.
-Experience with interpretation in complex salt areas, structural reconstruction, well
synthetics and risking techniques
-Excellent presentation and communication skills
-Effective team skills
-Experience in well data integration, evaluation, and post audits.
-A clearly demonstrable oil-finding record is required.
-Deepwater experience; GoM preferred
-Experience working with 2D and 3D

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
-Have knowledge of a range of structural and depositional environments, especially
deepwater environments
-Be a proven oil finder and prospect generator
-Possess a strong understanding of salt tectonics.
-Be an experienced well log interpreter.
-Possess knowledge of pore pressure prediction.
-Have experience generating synthetics.
-Have an understanding of stochastic volume estimation.
-Have experience in seismic data processing
-Possess knowledge of the business, project drivers and economics
-Have strong interpersonal and communication skills
-Have AVO experience
-Have experience and working knowledge of Petrel and ArcGIS is a plus
-Be an enthusiastic, strong team player with ability to engage and motivate others both
within and outside their team.
-Be passionate for the challenges of/and delivering quality results.
-Be a self-starter, possesses strong analytical skills, and enjoys working in a multidisciplinary
team environment.
