The Company:
Our client is a nuclear specialist, covering both civilian and defence sectors, across the complete lifecycle from New Build, through Operations and Maintenance, to final decommissioning and waste disposal.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEERS
- ALL LEVELS (CONTRACT OR PERMANENT)

The Role:
As a senior member of the Mechanical Engineering Design Team, you will manage multi-discipline engineering resources to ensure design delivery to projects and adherence to design processes and standards.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is a design delivery role from a technical perspective working across a multi-disciplined design team. The Senior Mechanical Engineer is usually responsible for delivering the design within their own discipline with frequent liaison / management of engineers within the design team from other disciplines. The Senior Mechanical Engineer also provides technical guidance and imparts knowledge to Senior Engineers, Lead Engineers, Design engineers, Graduates and Designers.

• Ensure work areas and designs are Safe (SHE)
• Act as Senior Design professional in Mechanical Discipline
• Resource Management and Line Management within discipline group
• Support team in winning new business
• Oversee design delivery for selected projects
• Radiological Protection
• Responsible for line management of discipline grouping of up to 100 staff
• Responsibility for design delivery within projects
• Approval of Engineering Design input to bids up to £10M

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Minimum HNC in a relevant technical / engineering discipline
• Demonstrable competence gained at a Senior Engineer position.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Chartered Engineer status or nearing chartership
• Membership to appropriate institutions is preferred e.g. CIBSE, MIMechE.
• Experience in the nuclear sector or from a highly regulated industry. This could be from but is not limited to the Defence, Pharmaceutical or Oil & Gas sectors
• Technical experience could be gained from but is not limited to precision engineering, conveyer systems, remote handling systems / equipment, heavy engineering, cranes,
pipes and pumps
