The Company:
A rapidly rising O&G operating Joint Venture based in Ebil, Northern Iraq who value having a global team spirit require knowledgeable and experienced petroleum professionals to join them with their continued success.

The Role:
To enable our client to successfully achieve their mission statement of delivering the project in due time and within budget they seek a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a 12 month contract based on a 4/4 rotation.

As the Senior Mechanical Engineer you will act as the focal point/technical authority for mechanical engineering and design related questions throughout all phases of engineering design and construction, commissioning and operation for modifications to the existing plant and facilities and for new projects.

Other responsibilities will also include:

Provide mechanical engineering input to other disciplines to assure that design outputs are consistent.
Act as Company Authority for the review of Design Bases, design drawings, specifications, etc.
Monitor mechanical discipline studies during engineering (technical, costs, planning, interfaces, reporting).
Assume responsibility for the quality of the mechanical design and control any studies that are produced by the Contractor(s) together with deliverables.
Participate in technical evaluation of suppliers and equipment purchases.
Check that design is developed in line with the Pre-Engineering and the Statement of Requirements.
Co-ordinate mechanical engineering assistance from Company or from external Specialists as necessary.
Communicate with Company Organization for key reviews on HSE, in technological, in operation and project requirements related matters.
Assist construction and commissioning teams with field questions encountered during installation, construction and commissioning phases.
To initiate and coordinate tasks needed for project execution including permitting or government reviews, material specification, installation procedures, testing, etc.
To participate in HAZOP's and other key design reviews as necessary.
Maintain up to date facilities mechanical installations database.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
University Engineering Degree (Mechanical) from an internationally recognised university
Extensive relevant experience within the oil and gas industry mechanical discipline (static equipment and rotating equipment experience).
Working knowledge of oil and gas industry mechanical engineering codes and standards.
Solid experience in managing and coordinating a team of engineers and preferably knowledge of on-site upstream operations engineering support.
Fluent spoken and written English.
