Position Description:
Saudi Aramco is seeking a Reliability Engineering Consultant to work within Dynamic and Reliability Analysis Unit of Consulting Services Department (CSD). CSD provides Saudi Aramco with effective specialized engineering consultations maintains company standards and introduces viable technologies. The Dynamic and Reliability Analysis Unit provides technical support to plant operations and new projects on rotating equipment related issues.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Work under the company corporate instructions; provide in-house consulting services to advise existing plants and new plants, at the design stage, on a variety of complicated reliability processes and equipment improvements supported by detailed and innovative engineering calculations that are guided by cost effectiveness decisions and recommendations to improve not only equipment and plant reliability and availability but the overall business performance and profitability. Look ahead, design and develop reliability analysis methods for assessing plants and equipment, design-out maintenance, and avoid failures by introducing cost-effective design improvement equipment upgrades. Prepare the needed diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations, and reports for defining production plants and equipment reliability problems and make cost/effective recommendations to achieve a level or reliability that is commensurate with the company’s needs for current and future profitability and safety, environmental, and operational performance. Analyze and investigate plant and/or equipment specific reliability problems to determine the reliability required for the particular situation considering the cost limitations for lost production opportunity and retain/replacement equipment strategy. Determines the cost advantages of alternatives for developing action plans to comply with internal/external customer demands for reliable processes/equipment to anticipate failures. Plan, conduct and directs engineering research and technology initiatives of major significance which are very difficult and complex in nature and require the expert application of advanced engineering knowledge from several different fields; and resolve difficult root cause(s) to prevent future failures. Represent the company in outside meetings, discussions, committee and technical forums while working with wide latitude for outstanding actions and decisions expected from a seasoned engineer. Participate to design packages review and address Reliability, Availability and Maintainability. Demonstrated ability to build business case and costing for plant and/or equipment reliability improvement. Demonstrated ability to oversee reliability limitations/improvements impact at equipment (local improvements) as well as at plant and company levels (global improvement) and availability requirements during design phase of projects Meet with process licensers, equipment packagers and OEMs and address equipment reliability and maintainability challenges faced in the field Develop and lead new reliability and maintenance programs and equipment strategies to improve equipment ownership cost Lead and facilitate, at corporate level, failure investigation of plants’ critical and chronic problems and identify appropriate recommendations to eliminate the problem root cause(s). Provide technical guidance for reliability and maintenance metrics and KPI design, architecture and data requirements. Identify and analyze the annual cost of unreliability at plant and corporate level and identify alternatives for reducing plants and company OPEX Provide guidance to plants to justify retain/replace equipment strategy and when to start planning equipment phase-out Provide guidance to plants to develop reliability and integrity operating envelops for equipment Introduce and implement New Technologies in the field Facilitate plants internal and external benchmark of plant performance Knowledge of Reliability, Availability and Maintainability tools and principles Experience with reliability simulation software

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
A B.S., Master, or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electro Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university. A Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.) license would be desirable. A minimum of 20 years’ experience, where a minimum of 10 years are field experience exposure to plants’ operations and maintenance daily activities and problems. Experience with the operations and maintenance of gas, refining and/or petro-chemical plants and equipment, or similar equipment and operating context, is highly preferred. A high level of industry recognition through activities on committees of professional societies and industrial organizations such as ASME, ASTM, API and others.
