The Company:
Our Client a major international oil and gas EPC seeks a Senior Metallurgist to join their team in Houston

The Role:
The Senior Metallurgist shall have more than twenty years experience in Onshore and Offshore projects in the field of materials selection, metallurgy, corrosion control/mitigation, welding and failure investigations. The primary responsibilities will be to prepare material selection diagram and provide material (metallic/non-metallic) selections for major equipment and piping for various petrochemical, chemical, refinery, synfuel, Gas/Oil Offshore Platforms and cryogenic plants. Must have worked on materials (High pressure and Cryogenic temperature), corrosion, welding, inspection, failure analysis and laboratory investigations and is knowledgeable of current ASME, ANSI, NACE, AWS, ASTM, API Codes and Standards including foreign codes such as BS, JIS, AS, DIN and others.

Work Performed
Provide material selections for equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, rotating equipment; piping and piping components for ethylene, ammonia, phenol, liquefied natural gas; and grass root refineries including crude, naphtha/gasoline, hydro treating, and sulfur facilities; as well as fluid catalytic cracking units and MTBE, and beta carotene plants.
Perform inspection for corrosion/contamination of the stainless steel clad vessels and provide solution for clean-up of the corrosion products and repair.
Provide guidance/corrective action to the Welding shops, forging shop & fabrication shops to resolve the material impact toughness properties of several carbon steel heavy wall forgings for tube sheets and body flanges.
Handle Petrochemical plants metallurgy such as: Ethylene plants (millisecond technology) / Pyrolysis, Olefin, Polyethylene, Polypropylene plant (Polymerization / finishing / off-site units), VCM, special plastics (ULTEM), ethylene oxide / ethylene glycol (EO/EG).

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
B.S in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Engineering.
Licenses: PE
•15 + years, post graduate experience
•Proficient in use of computer word processor and spreadsheet software.
•Experience in the oil and gas industry, knowledge of the Engineering and construction segment, including offshore and onshore.
•Understanding of mechanical and structural components as it relates to materials engineering assessments and recommendations.
•Full knowledge of FCCU (Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit) and experience Providing material selection recommendations for both grass-root and revamps/expansions projects is preferable.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
•Excellent written and verbal communications skills
•Very proficient in Microsoft Excel, word and particularly Powerpoint skills
•The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations.
•Must be able to work well with others in a team setting.
